this is not listed as a tour option for my 1/12 cruise.
is it something that can be done on our own?
Thanks for your input

Yes, it is; we did on our last trip to Curacao. Just grab a cab at the port.
That being said, understand that there's not a lot to see there and in my opinion it would be hard to spend more than, say, half an hour there. You may want to ask your driver to stick around. I would plan it as something you're going to check out on your way to doing something else with most of your day.
Hope that's helpful. I'm glad we went but it's definitely not a full day or even half day activity.

Hi,
We too are on the same cruise and looking for something to do here. We have a roll call started, you should join in.

Anyone know if we could walk to the distillery from the port?

Can't walk there from the port. Seems like several years ago, we picked up a tour near the cruise dock or downtown that was in a little bus that held maybe 20 people. It was for about three hours and included a stop at the liquor distillery place. It was very good and inexpensive - $25 or so, something like that.

It's something like a 10-15 minute cab ride (including crossing the highest bridge in the Caribbean) from the port, so I'm guessing not. Although maybe it's shorter by foot if you use the floating pedestrian bridge instead, I still don't think it's that close.

We were there last week. The only thing to do at the distillery is taste the different flavors. We picked up a tour in town. It was $15 pp and lasted about 1 and 1/2 hours. There are many tour operators available. Don't use Casper tours.

Does anyone know if they sell the small airport size bottles at the Distillery? They would sure make nice souvenirs for friends & family.

Yes the distillery sells the small botlles, along with colorful buildings with the liquor inside.
