This may be a stupid question but here goes. Does anyone know the purpose of the red button on the shower temperture knob? Pushing it does not seem to have any effect.

IF my memory is right it 'sets' the temp of the water for the hotness of where it is when you push the red button. Next shower you can just turn the water on and it will go to that temp.

It is absolutely not a stupid question. I know we had no idea what it was for and through trial and error I think that is what we realized it was.

For those of us that like our showers/baths scalding, it enables you/us to make the water hotter than hot.

When adjusting the temp beyond 30c (really hot to start with) it is the safety point switch to prevent scalding.

Every time I would get in the shower it was set beyond the normal safe temp up around 40c, just where my wife likes it.

Yep,,,the red button limits the maximum temperature that you can set the water to. To make it hotter than the "red button limit", you must push the red button in order to turn the knob to a higher temperature. The idea is to keep you from burning yourself inadvertantly.....Good question in my opinion!

Yes, it allows you to make the water hotter. As I recall, you must hold in the red button as you turn the water temperature knob further, releasing the red button as soon as the knob passes the "click you feel" point. So, just to push it will not help. Push and hold as you turn the water adjustment knob past the "stopping" point.

Wow - what a good question!

They should have a sticker in the shower telling you how to use their controls...

All this time, I thought it just let you know where the average "hot" setting was.

duhhhhhhh.

We would always set the temperature where we liked it, but when I cabin steward came to clean up, he would always turn the water down to the coolest temperature. And it has happened on about 98% of our cruises.

Actually this is the one thing that I really do not like on the HAL ship and that is the showers and showers heads and the way the whole thing works. Of course this is just my opinion. This last time on the Ryndam even pushing the button it was hard to get really hot water. I just think with all the improvements the showers could be a lot nicer. I had the hardest time trying to get the botton pushed in to turn the water to the shower head. Several times DH had to come in to get it to work. Of course I only let my frustration out while taking the shower, then once it is over I am back to relaxing and enjoying my cruise.:D

Try the shower in the Penthouse sometime. It was fabulous, but with so many sprays and controls it was like putting yourself through a carwash. :D

Oh yes !!!

Loved the shower in the Penthouse Suite.

Wanted to rip it out and bring it home. Guess I will just have to quit cruising for a while and do over my bathroom.
