But what if she misses a day? Will we have to put up a new thread announcing no blog for the day? And what if someone numbers the day wrong? Will that screw everyone up forever? We'd best assign a committee to investigate and have a daily thread auditing the daily thread. ;)

It's about 3 weeks before the Amsterdam gets to American Samoa. I wonder what shape it would be in by then after yesterday's tsunami?

I sailed on another cruise line this summer.... REALLY missed the flowers (my favorite HAL ship is the Volendam). They are such a wonderful touch of class and beauty on HAL.

I am enjoying the blog and the pictures. Perhaps the ship will be forced to by pass American Samoa. It may take along time to recover from this.

We had gorgeous flowers and flower arranging demos on the Amsterdam when we did Panama Canal. Afer stopping in Costa Rica, WOW did we have gorgeous flowers. They loaded up the ship!

From all the reports down here, I doubt if either Samoas and Tonga will be up and running by the time the Amsterdam is due to dock at any of those ports.
The islands have been devastated and the huge loss of life is overwhelming. We are sending manpower plus medical supplies today to try and get the community back on its feet once again but it is going to take many months.

I seriously doubt if any cruise ship will be able visit that area for quite a while.
3 weeks is not enough time to clean up all the damage.

I understand how Samoa wouldn't be ready to host a shipload of cruisers, but couldn't the passengers arrange for some kind of relief for them during a brief stopover? I'm just thinking out loud. Food for thought.

When one of the persons on our roll call tried to post the link to his cruising sheet the mods came on and said CC was for CC stuff and they would not allow anyone to post links to another site. I wonder why these posts directing folks to Karens site is acceptable. Seems like a double standard to me.

He got on the ship earlier than Karen, that's why the day numbers aren't the same.

Jeff is on the Amsterdam for something like 223 days. He obviously scheduled several B2B cruises this time around. There are actually 2 other blogs about this cruise.
I think it is a double standard too to give a daily reminder of one blog. I think anyone interested has it book marked by now. Just like I do for this one and the other 3. It's interesting how different they all are, but they are all great reading.

Because Jeff puts ALL his photos and ALL his days on the same page, it is a very very very slowloading page, even on broadband.
Also, very few of the photos have captions so you don't really know what you're looking at.
It's a blog I have bookmarked, but not for daily viewing because of the time it takes loading. The pictures, though, are really worth looking at, and some of his comments are highly entertaining.
I like Kween Karen's individual pdf pages.

October 2nd, 2009, 06:19 PM
Sure; Hope it's okay to do this:
1) http://2009aunzcruise.thestansfields.com/ Posted by Barbara and Orlin from Tennesse. These people are CC posters. Their blogs are always great fun and interesting. I have been a fan of their blogs for several years.
2) http://cruisetothelandofoz.blogspot.com/ I just happened upon this blog a few weeks ago. It seems interesting and worth a read.
3) http://amazingvoyages.blogspot.com/ This Jeff's blog. I have been reading his blogs for several years. His blog contains ton of pictures. My computer doesn't have a problem loading them quickly. It's true he doesn't label the pictures but his commentary pretty much tells you what is happening. His pictures are absolutely breath taking.
And number 4 is Karen's which we all have.

I think Barbara and Orlin are the ones Kween Karen had made sure were to be booked at the same dining table with her after their Los Angeles boarding and then she had to straighten out the problem when the booking hadn't been done. She posted that it did get taken care of before the ship got to Los Angeles where Barbara and Orlin were getting on. She was able to get the four of them on a table for 8 near a window.
I haven't looked today, but as of yesterday the Stanfields blog wasn't up to date. I'm hoping they'll blog while they're on the ship.

NMLady - They are the same people that Karen is seated with at dinner. In fact I think I read in Karen's blog that their son helped her set up her blog. Their blog is all up to date. They usually post everyday while on the ship.
