We're boarding Regatta this Thursday and want to know if anyone has any last minute advice for us. Also, a couple questions...how good is the library? We usually take books with us to read but if the library is up-to-date maybe we'll try that instead. This is our first try with Oceania after a couple cruises with Celebrity. We're thinking the food will be better on Oceania. We expect the nightlife to be a little quieter. And, given the size of the ship, we expect the ride to be a little rougher. We booked inside, mid ship so we think between the cabin location and the bonine, we should be OK there. Anyway, any advise would be welcome. Thanks

Hi,

The food is so much better than Celebrity -- we were on Celebrity for the second time in February and were so disappointed. They've changed their food supplier. You won't believe how great it is on the Regatta. We were on it in August of 2003 and will be on the Insignia in July and the new ship in 2006. I had to use the stairs ALL the time to work off the calories. When you board, go right to the person in charge of making reservations for the alternate dining rooms. They are much smaller and get booked up fast. You don't need reservations in the main dining room unless you are a big party. The Library is beautiful, but I had my own books and didn't check their books. There is a computer in there, also. This is a port intensive cruise ship and we hardly went to view the entertainment after having a leisurely dinner and great company. We were just too tired.

The library is kept very up to date..the problem I was told is theft..unfortunately a lot of people walk off the ship with their books as it is an honor system..at this rate I am not sure why Oceania would continue to bring on new books so often..

Geez, people pay a few thousand dollars for a vacation and then have to steal books? Unbelievable!!

They have not only walked off with books, but silverware, crystal and a lot of things not nailed down. Oceania told me the worst of the thefts took place during Inaugural cruises!

However, for the poster that asked... The library is well stocked with a very well thought-out list of titles. You should not have any problem in finding something you will enjoy....
