View Full Version : Eurodam cabin dilemma

We are book on Eurodam next month in a VB aft cabin.

Tempted to go for an upgrade to an SZ guarantee which appears quite reasonable.

But looking at the deckplans, I can only see 2 x SZ forward on Observation Deck. What size are the balconies there? They look shallow on the deck plan - are they still roomy enough to sit out on? We spend a lot of time on our balcony.

If we were lucky enough to get upgraded from SZ, what impact does that black lift (elevator) shaft have on the cabins on either side of it?

Shall we risk the upgrade or be safer with our aft?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There are very few SZ cabins which means that you probably will get a higher rated cabin - maybe an SY or an SS. But you take a chance booking a guarantee. If you think you can live with whatever SZ or better cabin you get, go for it. I haven't been on the SZ balconies, so I do not have an idea of how wide they are.

What I DO know is that the aft balconies are not particularly deep. We had one in an aft suite and were disappointed that the aft portion of the balcony was not much wider than the side portion of the balcony. Take a good look at the deck plans.

And you never know - you might get an upgrade to a deluxe suite if you are lucky.

What I would focus on is whether or not the extra money for the upsell is worth it.

Thanks for the reply. I've been hunting round the web for Suite photos and they all look lovely.
If the additional cost is no more than £50 (US$75) pp, then I may well go for it.

We were in a VA on the stern, deck 7, for the Eurodam's Norwegian fjords cruise. Loved it! Our cabin was deeper than the typical VA and the verandah was a bit deeper, too. It was nice being able to watch the wake and see port and starboard from one position. If you can get a good deal to move up, though, that would be great.

Thanks Jim

We're staying with the VB aft on Deck 4. I spoke to our TA this morning and they wanted far too much for the upgrade. We don't seem to get the bargains here in the UK that you do Stateside.

The aft cabin will be great - our first aft! Only 6 weeks to go!
