I noticed some of these cabins are under the galley. If we happen to get one of them, how bad will it be?
Thanks

We were in 1090 and there was some unknown noise that bothered my husband. Staff checked it out several times but couldn't figure out what it was. It was often when we were trying to sleep. We got a credit because of it.

CC member doclove states for 1066: "We liked this room because it had the feel of being a larger room then it actually was. We didn't feel cramped for space and felt that there was plenty of open space. The room is located near the main atrium and down the hall from the Vista Lounge." That's me who said that. :D
We really liked the outside room. Didn't hear any noise in our cabin from above us. We did have a bit of noise from outside the cabin since it was a few doors down from a service access door. But that didn't bother us much. The location was great since we were just down the hall from the theater and right next to the glass elevators to the Lido.
We loved the location so much that we have booked the same area for our entire family this time. Unfortunately we won't have the same room, but will be one room down.

I was in 1115, almost under the galley, and heard some thumping noises, but nothing bothersome. EM

I just returned from the Oosterdam Barcelona to Venice cruise. I was in 1084 and my friends were in 1086 and 1088. There was a terrible banging noise underneath our cabins at all hours of the day and night. The staff, although very nice, had no explanation for the noise (one said it was steam trapped in the pipes). After two nights of no sleep, we were all given access to interior cabins on other levels of the ship. We were told we could use them just for sleeping. So every night, we had to pack up our sleepwear and toothbrushes and trudge up to our "sleeping cabins." Every morning we had to get dressed just so we could go back to our "daytime cabins" to shower and dress. It was very inconvenient and the amount of compensation they offered at the end of the cruise was not very much IMO.
I know this sounds like I'm one of those terrible whiners/complainers, so I want to make it very clear that all other aspects of the cruise were exemplary. Food, service, ports of call -- all were great. I'm just a little nervous about booking an oceanview cabin on a HAL ship in the future.

We're in a similar room on the Westerdam this Xmas with our 2 kids - 4 and 6. How will that go over, you figure? Thanks very much for sharing your room photos, by the way - it helps to see what a quad will look like...

We will be on the Oosterdam for christmas with our 4 kids. 2 of them will be in our room and 2 in the grandparent's room.
From what I have heard, when the sofa bed is extended it will just leave a small walkway between the desk and the sofa bed. Also the upper bed will be over the sofa bed. It should make for a tight fit, but I think it will still be roomier then other cruiseline's outside rooms that I have seen. I could let you know how it works out after Christmas, but I don't think that will work for you. :D
We are hoping to spend as little time in the room as possible so that we don't have to worry about the possible tight quarters with 4 people.
