A question for those who've had Deluxe Verandah Suites very near the Neptune Lounge.
Does the noise from people entering and leaving bother you in your cabin? Are those cabins across from the Neptune significantly louder because of the social atmosphere of the Lounge?
Any opinions would be appreciated as a cabin choice is in our future ... and we've never had a suite very very close to the Neptune's door.
Thanks so much ....

We have had a suite with the doors right across from the neptune door the only time the noise came in to play was when they did the suite party in the neptune. If we would have wanted to stay at the party would not have noticed that. That was in a SA i think the partys on the ships with only S catagory are held somewhere else. It was a very nice for coffee in the morning etc. hope this helps

We were right across the hall from the NL on the Noordam and loved it. The first time we cruised HAL we were down the hall a bit because I was worried about the noise. We heard nothing, so the next time we booked the cabin directly across from the door to the NL. The only time we heard anything was the night of the suite party. There were several people out in the hallway and we could hear muffled voices (if we were near the door).
We like the convenience of being close to the NL. It does make it easy to run across the hall for coffee or a snack. I'd book in the same area on our next cruise. :)

GmaPajama has had Suites directly across from the Neptune Lounge S 021 on the Maasdam and also on S 7016 on Volendam and made no note of any noise. (Currently she is sans computer access on a cruise right now.) She has also had others in the same location with no notes on noise from the Lounge.
papaguy was in 7031 on Volendam, just down from the Neptune and also reported no noise.
NancyQuilts was in S 011 on the Ryndam, just a few doors down from Neptune Lounge and also did not note any noise from it.
I know that I do have a CC member that had a Stateroom directly across from the Neptune Lounge on their cruise and they did report the sound of the doors closing did disturb them a bit, but not enough to make a complaint.(I just cannot find it right this moment)

You will love being close to the Neptune lounge. We have had the privilege of twice staying in the suites almost across from it and never had a problem with noise. The luxury of being able to go in there for coffee, muffins, etc in the morning was wonderful. Enjoy!

I was disturbed by loud noises eminating from the Neptune Lounge on only one occasion.
I left my inside cabin on the Main Deck, took the elevator up several decks and wandered into the NL. Several people looked at me and started shouting-get out-get out. A very noisy bunch.:)

I will have my first suite on the Westerdam in 2 weeks. I am in 7065 right a cross from the Neptune Lounge. I am sure the noise will not bother me.

On the R and S class ships we chose S cabins as far forward as possible.
But on the Vista class ships we choose the SA cabins right by the Neptune Lounge. Only once did we have a lot of noise -- when the ship was rocking and rolling and the dishes were falling and breaking.

Both our SA's were very close to the NL (one right across) and never had a problem with noise............

We've only had S cat cabins on the smaller R and S class HAL ships and have never been bothered by noise out of the Neptune Lounge. We've found that to be one of the quieter parts of the ship as it's not a major route for other than the S cabin passengers.

We were on the Ryndam in September and stayed in the inside cabins right next to the Neptune Lounge. My father's cabin shared a wall with the lounge. We never heard any noise from the lounge while in our rooms. They had one party on the first evening and they had the door open for that. We noticed the party because we had to walk past the lounge to go to the show that evening. That was the only time that we even saw that the lounge was in use by a crowd of people.

WE have encountered hushed silences, except for the sound of tv in the NL. Doors almost always closed. Guess our cruises have been itinerary intensive, leaving passengers little energy to whoop it up! Very quiet corridors up there!

We were just in 7021 on Volendam - right across from the Lounge and about 8-10 feet from the door. We never did hear any noise from and it and loved being so close for the extra service.
We did hear noises from above (the Lido pool area), especially on the glacier viewing days, but also some evenings (never did figure out why).

Have stayed in S35 on the Veendam and the Ryndam - no noise at all. The NL closes at 8:00 pm, so unless you are an early to bed, you should not be disturbed. As to the cocktail parties in the NL, they are held before dinner, so you may even be in the dining room and avoid any noise (although I don't remember any loud goings on). As I recall, the bigger cocktail party was held in the lounge forward above the spa.
I really liked being close to the NL, closer to the espresso machine and faster to get back to the suite and enjoy the view!

The Welcome Aboard Cocktail Party (and any other Neptune Lounge Cocktail parties) are held at 7:15. It's pre dinner cocktails for people who dine late and after dinner drinks for those with early seatings.
Parties end by 8:00 so shouldn't be a bother to anyone.
Besides....... you would be invited to the party if you are in one of those nearby cabins so wouldn't you come to the party? :)

My favorite was Zuidy's 7061, directly across from the Neptune office door. Very convenient; NO noise!

Thanks, all. My question was due to an upsell we've accepted on a Vista Class ... moved from SB to SA and the SA is right across from Neptune door. After all your positive comments, I'm sure we'll enjoy the location!
On Ryndam last month we were in S11 ... close to Neptune and great location. But we heard lots of chair scraping from the Lido Deck above (esp after the night time Chocolate Extravaganza...lol.) Happy that the Vista class has a deck of cabins above us!
I appreciate the time you all took to respond to my question ... thank you so much!

Ironic--that was our very room on our 9/19 Alaska cruise and we loved it! My back is slow to "wake up," so it was wonderful to be able to throw on a bathrobe and stagger across to the Neptune for a cappuccino. Questions? right across the hall. Reservations? right across the hall. The door is almost always closed, so no noise at all.
Here's a tip for the directionally challenged. To go aft, walk toward the urn. Otherwise take the glass elevators; that way you know what side of the ship you are on when you get off. For some reason, we were totally disoriented on the Oosterdam, since all our previous trips were on S ships.

I choose cabins on the Starboard side so that forward is right and aft is left. Many times in the public areas I have to look out the window to see which direction we're going, so I know which way to turn.

Thats makes perfect sense. If you have a suite near there, why aren't you at the party!!

We always get cabins that are right across from the Neptune lounge. Never had any problems with noise and it is oh so convenient to get those snacks and coffee. You will love having your cabin there.

That's why on the S and R class ships we book far forward -- not under the Lido pool area.

Several times we have NOT had the Welcome Aboard Suite Cocktail party in the Neptune Lounge -- they were held in the Crow's Nest.
This is from my review -- last spring on the Westerdam:
Sunday, April 19 -- it was a busy day in Ft Lauderdale -- 6 ships: Westerdam, Carnival Freedom, Emerald Princess, Celebrity Solstice, Crown Princess and Seven Seas Navigator. Around 10:45 we got a cab and went to Pier 26 -- quickly went through security and check-in. We were escorted on the ship by 11:15 and taken to our cabin. Met our cabin stewards and walked around the ship -- made certain that our Pinnacle reservations were all in place. That evening we had the suite cocktail party from 7:30 - 8:15 in the Crow’s Nest. Instead of the Lido dinner this evening there was a BBQ from 6 PM until 8:30 PM.

Strange on both accounts, KK.
Barbeque on Embarkation Night. Most unusual.
Never have we had Suite Welcome Aboard Embarkation Night party anywhere but Neptune Lounge. Once or twice, we had Suite Welcome Party the next morning (sea day) because of Captain's inability to attend Embarkation Night. (Assume he was needed on the bridge.)

On our Ryndam SB Alaska cruise on 9/18, the Lido BBQ was indeed on embarkation night. We found it unusual, too ... and decided to go to the main dining room instead.
