Will the water be warm enough to swim in comfortably on 4.23?

we did...sailed on the Zuiderdam April 2004 and enjoyed HMC. Will admit that the water was warmer this past November (2004) when I was there...perhaps by 8 (or more) degrees. Once you get in and begin to enjoy the fish/snorkeling...you won't worry about the water temp. Just get over the initial "shock" and you'll be fine. of course, you need to weigh this message with the fact that I live in Florida and hate getting into our pool if the water temperature falls below 87 degrees!
HMC has some wonderful excursions in addition to the beautiful beach. If you're slightly athletic...you might want to consider the kayak excursion. It's a great way to see the island...and it's an excursion I would take in April and NOT in November! In short, if I were there in April, I'd plan a morning excursion and then plan on enjoying the beach for the afternoon. Note...lounge chairs fill up quickly...so if you really want a chair and not just spread a towel on the beach...then you need to get to the beach early. The rafts and clam shells go quickly as well...especially if more than one HAL ship is at HMC that day. It's the best private island of all the cruise lines...so enjoy your day! Our next HAL cruise doesn't stop at HMC and I'm really disappointed! It's such a wonderful day to relax and enjoy crystal clear water...fine sand...good drinks and food...and general...to just veg out for the day!
Happy cruising!

Was just there last week and the water was Cool not Cold - slightly uncomfortable but I got used to it quickly - it's always that first dunk that gets you... Lots of people standing around with the water just up to their waists and jumping up when a wave came by.

End of April - water may be a tad cool - but once you get in and start to swim a round - you'll warm up.

Can we get a little more perspective on "cold" water, we have gone to New England in July and the water temp is in the 60's..now that is cold water!!
Are we talking 60's cold or high 70's cold??

We swam on HMC April 2004 - it was not bad! DH likes water like a bath tub, so he was not happy, but I was!

We also swam there in Nov 04, and it was again, not bad! Depends on your liking. I just plunge in and start moving and get warmed up fast - but then I 've been living on hot flashes for the past three years. But that's another whole story!

As I have dived at HMC at all times of the year. I carry a wrist computer that records the Ocean temperatures. Last week it was 80 degrees. At the end of August it was 86 degrees. The coldest I have experienced was in early February at 74 degrees and by mid March it was back up to 79 degrees. So in April you should be safe at 81-82 degrees.

Searanger, that is terrific news and I like the sophistication of how you got the info. I don't need bathwater warmth to enjoy the water and it sounds like the temp will be good.
