Bon Voyage all those who are embarking on her today!

She looks so small compared to the RCI (I think) ship docked beside her.

Nice and cozy...just the size for me. Unfortunately they are at the secondary pier location. The other ship is not RCI, it is the Celebrity Mercury I believe.

I think that's the Celebrity Inspiration beside her. I think I'll like the smaller sized ship -- more personalized service. Hehehehe.
I've never been on a cruise so I'll be happy with anything -- Hawaii here we come! Woohoo!!!
Man, these last two weeks are prolly gonna drag, I'm so excited...

Thank you for the link. Statendam is still our favorite ship. You will LOVE your Hawaii cruise! We sailed on the Statendam to Hawaii in March 2002.

For Pincus
You must be on the 30 day Hawaii/Tahiti cruise as well. Have seen very little about this cruise on these boards!

I watched the San Diego web cam several times today, as we had to cancel our bookiing for the Statendam's cruise that ended today :( !
The Celebrity ship was the Mercury-saw a close up of the name two times-yes and she definitely is much larger than the Statendam.
I had to turn of the web cam at about 6pm and the Statendam was still at the pier with the refueling tender by her starboard side, so it looks like they got off late tonight. But, it looked like a spectacularly beautiful day in San Diego today!

I finally hit the hay at 10:30 my time last nite, which was 7:30 on the west coast and the Statendam was still there. And here I was kicking myself cause I forgot to check around 5pm PST to watch her sail into the sunset. Wonder what time she finally got off and what the hold-up was... I'm sure we'll hear all about it from the several CCers who were on her once they get back from their wonderful Hawaiian cruise -- and that's the day we'll be boarding her! Yipee!!!

and we have been watching for up to date information on the current condition of the Statendam. As the fleet's oldest ship, we know she has been taken care of pretty well, but recent cruisers have returned with stories of mechanical problems concerning the air conditioning and engine trouble on all the S class. These give us a bit of concern.

The Statendam is going into drydock for cosmetic changes and the addition of a children's section with a climbing wall. The Ryndam is either ready to come out of drydock with the same changes or is just out. They are also changing the library area and card room. I can't remember all that was said about it but it sounded like major changes. And they sounded like it would attract a much younger clientele.
