College Football Bowl Games

I have read that HAL recently upgraded the television options available on their ships. Has anyone heard if the college bowl games will be televised on HAL ships this season?

I don`t know about the newer options on the TV, but in the past, I have seen them show bowl games in the sports bar on the big TV, they have even brought in extra chairs......jean :cool:

Their TV's may be better but I'll hazard a guess that bowl games may not be available for viewing. ESPN International is the main sports channel, at least it was in the Carribbean. And if they do show them, only expect one game, I believe their TV's in the sports bar must all be on the same channel. Good luck!! :D

ESPN International = loads of Socceer games. (often broadcast in Spanish).

I would not get my hope up too high for Bowl Games to be shown. You might get lucky but don't count on it.

When we were on the Statendam last month, we did get to see one or two of the football games live. However, before you get your hopes up, the ones we saw were those which ESPN carried. Since we didn't get the networks, we missed out on all of those. We did get periodic score updates on ESPN but it was hardly like getting to see the games.

I am dissapointed too as I am a Sooner also and will be sailing the day of the big game. I seriously doubt ESPN will be carrying it.

My best advice is to tape it.

We sailed Volendam over New Years last year.
The ship brought in the last two bowl games, the BCS championship and the one the night before. Both were on regular networks so the ships have the capability of downlinking the signals.
They also had NFL Playoff games pumped in.. They can get em if enough people ask.

Hmmm... DH would have loved to see a few bowl games. We've only experienced ESPN International - as S7S points out, lots of Soccer, in Spanish no less. :(
