Just booked an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle. Does anyone have a recommendation for a moderately priced hotel? We are flying in from the east coast and would like to see Pikes Mkt and some sights before the cruise and would like to catch a ballgame the day after. Do any of the hotels have shuttle service to and from the airport or cruise pier? We are traveling 7/18/10 on the Oosterdam. Thanks, Kathy

Kathy,
I know of no downtown Seattle hotel with shuttle service to pier or airport. There is a bus from airport to Westin and Four Seasons ($10-$15 aas I remember). They are also building a light rail connection which is scheduled to be done soon.
Pier is a short cab ride from all downtown hotels.
We have always stayed at Sheraton, Westin, Hyatt etc. Check rates on Kayak.
There is a free city bus that you csn use throughout downtown Seattle goes within a few blocks of Safeco Field.

Last year we went on th "O" out of Seattle and went 3 days early to see the town since we had never been there. We stayed at the Alexsis right down town within walking distance of everything. It was not cheap but we got great rates on hotels.com and I bet they are even better now since the economy is bad. I wrote a review if you can find it from Sept.08. They have a driver at the Alexsis that picked us up at the airport ($50 I think but the shuttle was $45) and he took us to the dock for $25 which is $5 more than a cab. He carried the bags and went back to the hotel and got my husband's jacket that he forgot and brought it back to the dock. The hotel was beautiful, great service, and great food. I can't wait to go back. Hopefully next year.We tried to ride the free bus but couldn't ever find which one was the free bus. We walked down to the water and took the state ferry out to I think Bainbridge Island for $6. We really had a great time.

We cruised last August on the Amsterdam. Stayed the night before at the Homewood Suites downtown. You can walk from there along the waterfront (lots of eateries), see the NCL ships at dock, and go to Pike's place market. Great breakfast included in rate, internet, etc.
Took a shuttle service from the airport, very reasonable and good service. Used the same service for post-cruise back to the airport (discount for round trip). The hotel offers a shuttle to the pier for <$10/person.

I just came back from a business conference in Seattle and I highly recommend Homewood Suites on Pike Street. I was traveling with a group and we had 4 rooms. All the rooms were a little different--3 had balconies, 2 had fireplaces, one had jets in her tub, one had a walk-in closet in the bedroom, one had a hall closet, and one had a bathroom that you can enter from 2 sides. All the rooms had a kitchen (full-size fridge, stove, microwave, pots & pans, dishes, glasses, cooking & eating utinsels), a separate living area, and 2 TVs. They give you a hot breakfast every day and during the week they have a light dinner including beer and wine. They also have a shuttle to select downtown areas. If they're not busy they'll drop you off and pick you up at the destination you want instead of the "select" areas. I'll be staying there when I cruise to Alaska next year.
For transportation to/from the airport and pier, I recommend Sunny of A1 Airport Limousine Services. Since I did not have to go to the pier, I did not ask the hotel if they would go there for a fee.

What shuttle service did you use at the airport to take you to the hotel and then back to the airport after your cruise? We are staying in Seattle the night before our cruise and are trying to find the cheapest transportation from the airport to a hotel (preferably downtown), to the pier the next morning, and then back to the airport when we return. Any suggestions would be VERY helpful! We noticed that some downtown hotels shuttle you to the pier at no extra charge?!

We stayed at the Best Western downtown - a block or so from the space needle. It was about 150 plus taxes - they have a free shuttle to the pier - probably have a shuttle from the airport too. It is an old hotel but was clean and the staff were pleasant. You have to handle your own luggage though which surprised me.

We have stayed at the Bayside Merriott.
For several years we have used AlreadyThereTownCar -- costs about $5 more than a taxi to go from pier to airport.
We have also used them to go from the airport to hotels in Seattle.

Beagledog, My TA booked us on the May 17, 14 days Amsterdam cruise. Booking through HAL for a 2 days pre-cruise stay at the Sheraton Downtown Hotel, Seattle. Price include all transfers: Airport to Sheraton, Sheraton to Ship and Ship to Airport for $208:). Hotel is on 6th Ave and Union St accross from their City Center. It's about 6 to 7 blocks to Pike's Market. There's also a Downtown Free Ride Area on their Metro Bus Line. Good Luck.

We used Shuttle Express. Waited maybe 20 minutes at the airport, less than 10 minutes post cruise. Thought this was acceptable. They have a round trip discount if you book ahead.
From the hotel to the pier take a taxi unless the hotel arranges a shuttle service.

Hi LindaM, My whole package is paid for. My TA sent me her two page Confirmation along with HAL's two page Guest Confirmation/Itinerary. This package was offered to us at our TA's Cruise Sales Seminar and five Cruise Lines were there to sell their Specials. I'm also getting $50.00 OBC per person and HAL's Coupon Book.

Thanks for your quick reply!! Since you got in on a special, HAL probably had special pricing. At least I know not to bug my TA! Thanks! Enjoy your savings!!
