What is the benefit to booking a deluxe balcony instead of just a BA balcony?

They are larger (30 SQF) and most have a bathtub like a mini suite on a Jewel class ship which is good if you have small kids..

balcony (216 square ft) vs deluxe balcony (245 square ft) also stated is bedding that can accomodate a fourth guest??!! (for the deluxe that is) Personally, I booked the balcony cabin since there are just two in my party. The extra square footage would probably be better appreciated if say a third (or fourth) person were to share the same balcony cabin. I believe the spa and family balcony have bathtubs as opposed to just showers. hope this helps!

So basically I would pay more for a possible bath tub and extra bedding, plus a little extra room? I guess I will just book the regular balcony since it is just my wife and I. Thanks for the help. I just wasn't sure if there was some sort of perk that I was missing by only booking the balcony.

Does anyone know how big said bathtub actually is? I would hate to think that I would actually be able to bathe/relax and it not be big enough? Doing research for my EPIC cruise in 2011!!!

Until someone has actually seen one, who can say? You'll have to be patient.
If they're the size of the bathtubs in minisuites on other NCL ships, they'll be a bit narrow (at least for someone with a wide body like me).

with the name SOAKING TUB with the arm holder in the sides. Just no jets. So your arms are up from your body giving room for body in the tub.
Funny part of our Jewel cruise with the mini with the back wards tub. To soak with arms in the slots on the sides, you had to lay with your head by the spigot. Even the Captain didn't believe me so he came to look. He moved us to a suite, with breakfast & lunch at Cagneys - and that is a breakfast with steak & eggs for FREE. Cappucino, espressio, latte machine is yours to enjoy after the butler teaches you to use it. But he was making it anyhow for me.

Gee, so you recieved an upgrade onboard the ship? What kept you from telling us that in your review?:confused:

Wow, I just found out what a good deal we got!! After reading this thread, I was surprised to see all the talk about bath tubs in the deluxe balconies, since I THOUGHT I had booked a Deluxe Family Balcony and was sure that we didn't have one... Well, I checked and sure enough, we're booked into a regular Family Balcony. So, I went online to check how much it would be to upgrade, and was amazed at the difference in price!! The Deluxe is only $100 more per person (1st and 2nd, so I figured a $200 increase wasn't so bad), so I priced it out... and was astounded to see it was almost $1000 more than what we were paying!! When I called NCL to double check, I found out that our current cabin is now close to $600 more than what we're paying!!
So YAY for us and I'll make do with the shower!! :p (I'm going to keep watching for price breaks, but since there are only four left that will accommodate the four of us, I'm not expecting to be able to take advantage of any)

Epic gives it the proper name.

Calling a deluxe balcony just that, and not a mini-suite.

Note that the posted cabin sizes for balcony and deluxe balcony INCLUDES the balcony s.f., making these cabins quite small.

is what a deluxe balcony is. Many of us wish all the ships would drop the Mini term since it is NOT a suite and call it deluxe balcony. People like the 20 sq ft addtional & the tub in the bathroom. If you are large you will not fit in the tub. This is a balcony stateroom with the only perk of 2 days in advance a specialty dinner booking.
