If the weather is too bad they may skip it.

They've engaged in a special contract with Mother Nature. So long as you pay her off, it won't rain on your vacation!! :D

In a less jovial note -- they may or may not tender if the weather is not good. Light showers they may still tender. We were there one day when it showered -- they tendered and then decided to cancel the excursions. IIRC the tendering continued, and people did stay on the island for a while.

they have a large canvas awning that opens over the beach and pavillions to protect you from the rain. The water is uncovered so you enter at your own risk of getting wet.

We had the same experience as momatibm. All the excursions were canceled. We took a short walk, had a drink at the bar and then returned to the ship. The ship left early, if I remember correctly. I am looking forward to seeing Half Moon Cay next year so I hope the weather is gorgeous this time around.

I asked this question of the Shorex Manager aboard Oosterdam two weeks ago. The reply was that if it was just light rain, tendering to the island would continue.
If, however, it was heavy rain that would affect the tenders (large ones that hold 175 people), HMC would be cancelled and shorexes refunded to the passengers.

Our first visit to Half Moon Cay, it started to rain after about half an hour of being on the island. We stuck it out for a while under our "clamshell" that we had purchased so we would not burn, but it was obvious it was going to continue to rain all day.
We decided to head back to the ship and had to wait in quite the line with all the other soaking wet people waiting for the tenders.
It is all part of the adventure. Half Moon CAy is such a lovely island. . .we are certainly hoping to go back there some time. . .

What happens if you have booked a cabana and it rains but not enough to cancel the island?
Is there any refund? What if the stop there is shortened?
