Picked up a friend this A.M. just off todays arrival. They were in early (0430) due to a medical emergency (passenger heart attack). My friend is not a CCer but had a great time, despite breaking her leg onboard. Looking forward to hearing her in-depth review tomorrow at her home, and any other reviews here.MarkB

Thanks for the information. Sorry to hear about your friend. It is not easy when things like this happen away from home. We had friends on this cruise and they too are not CCers so I am looking forward to hearing their review as well your your friend. I hope the trip home wasn't too rocky as the ship must of had to make up time with the emergency. I wonder why they did not try to air lift that person to Norfolk Sentara. I have been on cruises to Bermuda where the ship had to turn around because of an emergency. We rocked and rolled the whole way home.

We got back home yesterday afternoon. The cruise was great - have no complaints other than docking at Crown Bay while in St. Thomas - that stinks. Weather was fine - only had showers in San Juan. Hit rocky seas Friday afternoon but it was warm on deck and calmed down by second sitting - we had first but had no difficulty having dinner. I can't understand all the complaints on prior Maasdam cruises (this was our 14th HA cruise) because service was exceptional. Our room steward was magnificent, our waiter and busboy were great (however heard someone saying they didn't get "hot" food the whole trip). Disembarking at Norfolk is a little slow but since we got in so early we were off the ship by 8:30 although the express passengers got off at 7:30. Our shuttle to Holiday Sands was waiting for us and we were on our way at 9:15 from the motel. Have to go unpack now so more later. Everyone agreed the package deal with Holiday Sands was great and we would do it again.

Miss Debbie does not know how she broke her leg! She cannot attribute it to any one event. She is a retired nurse who was amused that the infirmary nurse had to read the instruction book to take the x-ray (stress fracture). The entire event cost her less than $300 though and she was pleasantly surprised. She had gone to the infirmary to get an Ace wrap, and the nurse talked her into the x-ray. Good thing. She is in a 'boot'.
She was travelling solo for the first time since losing her husband. She says she had a super time; crew was the best and took extra special care of her. Food was OK, but not great. She wishes she had had more time in San Juan, and would have traded St Thomas for it. Her break put a crimp on her excursions, unfortunately. This was not her first cruise; I believe she has cruised Princess. I'll ask.
They were unable to evac the heart patient due to weather.
RuthC: its only a few letters between hearsay and heresy.
Cheers
