Hi Laura...

I just wanted to remind you and the rest of Cruise Critic that The King Tut exhibit is currently being show at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco until March 2010

We went this past weekend and it was incredible...

As a child I had been to the exhibit in 1979 and this is far superior how it has been displayed and 2x the size!

Truly spectacular as not only were there pieces from King Tut's tomb, but from tombs of his believed to be ancestors

It was the perfect way to kick off the beginning of our reseach phase for our upcoming cruise next year to the Holy Land

Also, your entrance fee covers the Legion of Honor Museum across town for a couple of days and another show that is going on over there called Mummies and Medicine

Here are couple of websites everyone can use for reference to find out more

The last one is the main one for the 2 Museums, keep in mind they have other exhibits that are impressive too!

Hi where2next,

I just returned from a Tauck tour to Egypt and had a wonderful time at the Cairo Museum and was fortunate enough to tour King Tut's tomb in the Valley of the Kings. When I returned, I found a wonderful book at Barnes and Noble which was on sale -- "Tutankhamun - The Eternal Spendor of the Boy Pharaoh". It is a beautiful book and was on sale. It has photos of everything we saw at the museum as well as photos of Howard Carter's discovery of the tomb in 1922. You might call your local B&N to get a copy since you are planning a cruise to Egypt next year.
