Hi, all. I have the following questions relating to my upcoming Southern Caribbean Westerdam sailing:

Exactly when were the formal nights? Was the first one the same day as HMC, or the first sea day? I seem to recall that the second one was the second sea day.

Do they still offer solo events, such as lunches (on sea days, I presume)?

I'm a fluffy person and was wondering if the robes they provide come in more than one size?

Can the purser's desk cash Traveler's Cheques? I know they're considered archaic, but I found some old ones from previous trips and they don't seem to have an expiration date, so I thought I'd try to get some use out of them if I could.

How big are the room safes? Are they just for small valuables, or could I stick my whole medium-sized purse in one?

AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL ...

Do they still have bread pudding????? :D

The room safes are not that large -- will not hold a medium size purse. We just put our jewelery, passports, money in there.

You can cash travelers checks at the front desk -- no fee -- no problems.

On many of our last cruises there were not a lot of events for solo cruisers.

The first formal night is usually scheduled on the first sea day.

I am pretty certain I read somewhere that our two formal nights are on Tuesday and Friday, Elyce.

I don't know if they change by itinerary but formal nights on the Westerdam two weeks ago were Monday and Friday.

We were on same cruise as Steve and Sherri and he is 100% correct.

As for your bread pudding question. Yes, they still have it, sorry to say, it was not that good. I was told by an experienced HAL cruiser that they have changed both the recipe and the sauce.

If anyone wants the HAL Bread Pudding Recipe it is located on the Recipe pages (there are other HAL recipes there also):

The safe will hold your wallet..a purse would be a stretch in there.

The bread pudding is still served and is basically tasteless. The "vanilla" sauce was watery and the "vanilla" flavor was nearly non existent.:(

Yes, it does depend on the itinerary.
Formal nights are almost always on sea days. M&F were sea days for us!

To the OP: Stick the valuables from your purse in the safe and leave your purse in the closet! I have pretty pricey purses but I never worry about them when cruising.
