I have searched all over for a thread on Half Moon Cay with no luck. If anyone can lead me to the thread, that would be great. If not, I do have a few questions on HMC.
Are there wave runners for rent (unguided) at HMC? Is there a less busy part of the beach to go to just veg out? Is there shade on the beach at all? Is there a chair rental fee? We want to make this stop a very laid back one with maybe a jet ski ride, if possible.
Thanks!

There are no unguided wave runner/ski doo rentals ... only the guided excursion. If you walk far down the beach, past the last cabana you will find few people, and shade. There are tons of free loungers, but you can rent a clamshell for $14/day. If you are interested in that, you should book it online before you go.
Click on this pic, then look at the three pics following it. The first one is pretty early in the day, and the other three are after the sun has gotten higher.

It's a very quiet, peaceful beach. You can easily walk on a nice solid path to the last cabanas, and then follow the shore until you find your spot. We dragged a few chairs to a sunny spot that had a hammock just behind it in the shade. I was perfect. There are no wave runners to rent outside of the excursion, which is a ride/8 minute walk to the other side of the island. There is no beach on that side.
You will love the day!! Even with 2 boats, it was a peaceful paradise, except a little busy at the BBQ

When renting a clam shell, must you do it in advance to be sure to get one? I'm not sure if I want one or not and would like to decide when I'm there but don't want to miss out if you need to reserve in advance.
Will 2 lounge chairs fit underneath the Clam Shell? Do the shells give you a closed in feeling? Anyone with experience?
Thanks-

The clam shells hold two lounge chairs. Some find they are warm inside so they prop something under the back of the clam shell to allow air circulation.
If there are two ships calling at HMC on the day you are there, it can be crowded and the demand for cabanas and clam shells can be high so it probably is a good idea to reserve in advance.

Keep in mind that the clam shells can not be moved. They are already anchored into the sand.
Many people take a book to prop up the back to get air circulation.

There was only one ship at HMC when we were there and the clamshells were all sold out and waitlisted before the cruise. Happy Sailing!
