Since Christmas falls on a Friday this year(the last night before debarkation)do you think it will be formal dress for dinner that night?

I asked this earlier as we too are on a 7 day Christmas cruise and the answer I got back as that Christmas day is pretty low key, but that Christmas Eve (Dec 24) would be the gala Christmas formal night.

Sounds right because Christmas day dinner (Dec 25) would be the night before departure (Dec 26), when everyone would packing things up.

Last year we sailed on the Eurodam for Christmas week and the same as the Oosterdam Eurodam sails on Saturday and SUnday and Thursday are always the Formal nights. I expected Thursday last year whcih was Christmas Day for that evening to be the Formal Night, to my surprise it was actually Wednesday Christmas Eve night. So it will definitely be Thursday Christmas Eve night for your Formal Night. Let me say that Christmas Eve is by far the best :) HAL makes it a very very special evening and one I will never forget.

Since people have to pack and get luggage out -- your last Formal night will be the 24th -- when the ship really celebrates.

Enjoy!!

It is great to get all these wonderful reports about HAL Christmas cruises. I am so looking forward to our Christmas Eve dinner, and yes it will be the night to bring out all the sparkles and black tie.
