A few questions for those who just retruned from the Westerdam's Dec 5 - 12 cruise.
On what night was the Captain's Welcome party?
For those who may have been invited to the VIP party - on what evening was it?
For those who may have stayed in a suite - when was the final suite buffet?
Thank you.

WOW!
There weren't any cc'ers on this cruise?

I'm probably not the best person to answer this question since I didn't attend the Captain's Welcome Party, wasn't invited to the VIP party and didn't stay in a suite... Hopefully, this will help tho...
I believe the Captain's Welcome Party was on the first formal night, which was on Tuesday, the first sea day.
If the VIP party is the same as the Mariner's Society Party, that occurred on Saturday, the last night of the trip. I "accidentally" attended it when I went to the Vista Lounge early to wait for the evening's broadway show.
Sorry, I can't help you regarding the suite buffet.

I have sailed quite a few times on HAL and figured that the Captain's Welcome would be on the first sea - just wanted to confirm.
The Mariner's party is usually held on the last sea day and in the last couple of years it was held in the morning - don't like that time but there is little choice on a seven day cruise.
You made it sound like the Mariner's party was held at night - is this true? Was it a formal night?
Thanks for any information you can give me.

I believe people were invited according to their dining time. Our invitation was for 4:30 (as I recall -- don't have it handy) or maybe 5. We didn't go, so I don't know whether it was only for the early sitting people or not.

Gooselace is right, there were two separate times for the Mariner's society party. I was part of the early seating and another couple at our table had already attended the party. Then after dinner I left and went to the Vista Lounge to get seats for the evening's show, and ended up crashing the party for the Main seating guests. I was wondering why there were serving free champagne and hors d'oeuvres! :)

Hope you enjoyed the champagne. I know if we accidently walked into an area where free champagne was being passed out, we would get some.
