We were on the Veendam for two weeks starting November 20 to December 4 and had a wonderfull time. We have done some 20 plus cruises with HAL over the last 15 years or so and their overall presentation in our opinion has had some changes but believe there have been just as many if not more "positive" changes than "negative" ones.We do have a question for anyone who has used the "s" category on the Veendam, specifically cabin number S028 as we have this booked for the Vancouver-South America cruise on September 25, 2005 for the full 34 days. While on the most recent trip we heard from the occupants of S028 that they had received a strong "diesel smell" on a couple of occasions, resulting in the cabin needing the use of the "ozone" generator, so they had to leave the cabin while this was in operation.I fully expect that this was a "once over" problem that has been corrected but as we will be in same for 34 days just wanted to be sure this was not a recurring problem. All categories of S, A & B are now sold out so we sure hope someone can give us their experiances.Thanks.

Happy to hear you had such a good time on Veendam ....good enough to book such a lengthy future cruise.

We are headed to Veendam very soon and wish you would post some comments about your cruise. Did you enjoy the food? Who is Exec Chef? Maitre d?

How was Lido? Neptune Lounge?

Were there lots of flowers in 'all the usual places'? Was there a Dutch Night? Deck Barbeque?

Thanks for any info you will share.

(BTW....I have stayed previously in 028 but it is too long ago to be 'current info'. We never had a bit of odor or a/c or plumbing problems but....our experience is old history0.
