this is my first time cruise and so far we are going all out, its our honeymoon, we've booked first class flights and now the Superior Suite on the Zuderdam.. I was excited as we could get a balcony at a reasonable price (or so I thought) after booking (last night) I looked at pictures of the suite and am a little dissapointed. I have been on one cruise (princess a 1 night re-positioning).
Now I am wishing I stood my ground said no to the 1st class flight and got the delux suite.
Is the suite nicer thenI am thinking.. I am on the upper Veranda deck, should I upgrade or just relax and enjoy. I think I might just be envious of the 24hour consiege (sp) and the perks that do with it.....
WHat are your thoughts??

I too am taking my first cruise in Feb for our 25th Ann.
I don't know if we'll ever cruise again after this one, chances are 50/50.
I'm sure we'll love it and all but are not the kind of people who spend alot of money on a cruise for a week when we could be buy something else with the money.
Anyways I weighed the pros and cons of getting a Deluxe Suite and the perks, and decided to spend the xtra money for all the perks, we want to have fun and
this is going to be a once in a life time deal so we're going all out.
I wanted the PS until I saw the price LOL I'll keep waiting for that one.
I also was thinking about 1st class air but would rather put the money towards a better room, 3 or 4 hrs on a plane in 1st class vs a week in a better room for a week..
Well Have a great wedding and Good Luck, Getting to 25 years is no easy task BTW, alot of give and take and communication is the key....
PS you never said what ship or how long your cruise would be that may make a diffrence to some peoples feedback...

I had the same questions before booking my 12/30/04 cruise. It seemed to me that neither the Superior (SS) nor the Deluxe (S) were real suites (separate bedroom). I was interested in something on the stern, and those S suites are reportedly a bit smaller.... similar to an SS, but with much larger balcony. Then I learned that S suites have perks, but SS does not. I went with the S.

The SS is a nice room. The S SUITE is anicer room[Suite] If you plan on using the balcony and a corner S SUITE on the back is available grab it.The balconies are WAY bigger and wraparound. You wont go wrong with either.Have a great cruise. TOM

The Neptune Lounge is NOTHING to be concerned about missing. There is NOTHING special about it that is worth teh extra money. Next time I would book the SS Suite vs. the S Suite. We like having a bigger room but coulld care less about free laundry, carnation corsages, the Neptune Lounge, etc... Honestly - keep what you have.

Was in an S - 8128 on the 11/27 cruise - didn't use the Neptune except on boarding. Not having to wait in line at embarkation and for the tender and the receptions with free food and drink were a definate plus. The aft room was smaller but the veranda is huge and the wrap around is nice and you can see to the front of the ship. The over hang from the Lido deck was nice as no one could see onto our veranda and it was a short walk up the stairs to the aft pool and food.

I loved my SS in Feb - i definately missed the space, balcony, jacuzzi tub, etc. when I did Alaska this past fall.
Looking forward to my corner S in Alaska next fall - but I'd be perfectly happy in a Deck 8 SS on the next Carib cruise...
