Scheduled for Noordam. Was recently assigned a stern cabin on deck 8. Verandah room all the way at the back. Has anyone ever had this room before? Pros? Cons? I see that it is one deck below pool. Will there be a lot of noise? Thanks

I am not sure if 'Stern' is the fore (front) or aft (rear) of the ship so if it is the fore, I apologize!!
Just in case though here are some photos of some of the Aft Staterooms VA 8136 Deluxe Verandah Ocean View Stateroom Deck 8 Navigation Deck

And some photos from Westerdam, a sister ship to Noordam, so should be almost the same layout EXCEPT if you do not have a corner stateroom. BUT the views should be fairly similar. Stern is the back of the ship. Most people refer to those cabins at the very end of the ship as the aft cabins at the stern.
Joaanie, a way to remember is to think of the fore as the front or forward. All start with F.

We were in 8136 on the back of the Noordam on a trip to Alaska and loved it. There were some early morning sounds from the lido deck when they were getting ready for the day, but I'm an early riser so it didn't bother me. The room is slightly larger than the other veranda rooms, and the veranda itself is also. The veranda is more sheltered from the wind than the side rooms, making it more enjoyable for me to sit on it. People on the lido deck can see the back edge of your balcony, but not into your room. I'm sure there is more motion on the back, but we weren't bothered by it. I only get seasick at IMAX.

Thanks all...Trish, would you say a lot of noise??? The kind that wakes you up out of a deep sleep? Or is it bareable? Thanks again, Jason

It was definitely bearable to me, but as I said, I'm an early person. So I'm usually already sort of awake by six, and while my hearing is good, I've spent way too much time in hotel rooms and am not super sensitive. Like chairs being moved above you. I've had much worse noise on deck 1 when baggage is being shifted as they prepared to forcefully throw us all off. I would certainly take one of those staterooms again. And if I win the lottery, I'll take the one on the corner . Note to self--buy lottery ticket.

Bow: pointy piece in front
Stern: flat back end
Fore: anything between where you are and the pointy front
Aft: anything between you and the flat end

Thanks, Peter, best description I've heard! So bow and stern are locations, and fore and aft are directions.
