I'm going on the Westerdam western carib in February and was wondering a couple things. Our first day out is at Half Moon Cay, 2nd day is at sea.
Which day is the Captain's Dinner & first formal night?
We're in Cozumel until 9pm - what is there to do until then - Carlos & Charlies? Do they have a deck BBQ that night?
We'll have 6 other ships with us at Grand Cayman  - I assume it'll be a zoo, especially with tenders...
When is the second formal night?
Do they have any semi-formal/informal nights at all or are all the rest casual?
Anyone know if Mark Zeller is the F&B manager on board?
Thanks :D

First sea day probably will be formal.

We will be on this same agenda on March 13th, my guess is the First Formal Night won't be will Monday our first sea day, I could be wrong but I just don't see them doing the fancy dress up the same day we have been playing in the sand:eek: Then because of the time we leave the remaining ports it looks like it will be the day we are in Grand Caymans on Thursday will be the second Formal Night. But of course I have been wrong before. We will have to see what is said from the ones coming back from the Westerdam Caribbean on the Westerdam. Although we won't hear from those folks till after Christmas.

I called special services about this because I wanted to book the Pinnacle Grill not on a formal night. They said formal nights were the first day at sea and the day in Grand Cayman. BBQ nt is in Cozumel. I think we are going to do PG when we are in Ochie. We've been to Jamaica so many times, we may not even get off the ship.

Just to confuse you. On a recent Oosterdam Western Caribbean we had formal night Tuesday and Thursday. Smart Casual was Wednesday and yes the deck BBQ was Friday in Cozumel.

And...gain an hour on Thursday night....and lose an hour on Friday night!

My guess this will be exactly the same, since Westerdam is replacing the Oosterdam.

All nights on the Westerdam last week were casual except for the 2 formal nights. The first formal night was the Tuesday at sea day and the last one was Grand Cayman. I wondered what happened to the informal nights.

We do the Western Caribbean on the Westerdam in January and figured that the first formal day would be on Tuesday - a sea day. HAL doesn't schedule a formal day when you are on HMC.

I also figured that the 2nd formal night would be Grand Cayman since we leave there at 4 PM.

But I am surprised (according to anngie's post) that there won't be an informal night on Wed - Ocho Rios - since we leave there at 5 PM.

we usually cruise Princess....what can we expect differently on HA
I thought the brochure said 3 formal nights on the Westerdam Dec. 19-27

That sounds odd for a 7-night cruise. Maybe it has something to do with it being over Christmas...
HAL and Princess are similar in many ways, IMHO, but others will have differing ideas, I'm sure...
