We have a veranda right next to the outside elevators on the Noordam
Can anyone tell me if there's a noise problem from the elevators?
What about visibility? Can people in the elevator look right over the balcony? Does the elevator prevent viewing the horizon?
Thanks

You won't hear any noise from the elevators.
Only when the elevator actually stops at your deck and people are are standing right at the glass part of the elevator will they be able to see everything on your balcony.
Haven't been on those balconies so can't answer about the horizon view.

If you have a VE on deck 5, a VB on deck 6, or a VA on deck 8 then about half your veranda will be visible.

If you have an SB, SA, or SS then more will be visible because the veranda is longer.
The elevators may very slightly block your forward or aft view, but they certainly won't affect your view of the ocean or horizon.

Thanks so much for the report and picture.
I think I'm mostly concerned about the potential for noise. I don't suppose we'll mind too much that half the balcony is visible as long as the room is private.
I had booked a guarantee and was upgraded to the VA so it sounds like I should be pleased.
On the other hand last time I booked a guarantee I was upgraded a second time at check-in so I won't get too settled in mentally until I'm there.

We were one cabin away from the outside elevators on deck 6, and peeked around our balcony to see the elevator. Someone in the elevator stopped on deck 6 could definitely see you on your balcony--if you were standing by the rail. We could hear the two bells when the elevator would arrive on deck 6, but it didn't bother us. I think most people take the stairs or the central elevators (but we loved the outside elevators)!
The location of the cabin was fantastic. I'd say keep the cabin by the elevators!

DH and I were on the Westerdam in Oct. in a Deluxe Verandah cabin next to the elevators. We did not hear the elevators at all which was great, but there was a direct view from the elevator onto our verandah which was unexpected to us.
