Do they still offer an "all the laundry you can pack in a bag" service on the ms Zuiderdam? How much does it cost? I've heard conflicting reports of $12 or $15. How large is the bag?

They had it on the Noordam - all you can cram in the bag for $12... very well worth it imo. We also had the same thing last summer on the Zui.

Do you use a different bag for whites and darks? Or can you put everything into the same bag? Does the laundry seperate the clothes before the wash them?

On the Westerdam in November the bag was about the size of a grocery sack. Not very big, but if you roll your items tightly you will do better. If you have the all you can launder package you can ask for additional bags. Everything came back nicely folded or on a hanger and wrapper in paper placed in a basket.

What is this? Where do you get it? How does it work? Does anyone know if this applies to the Westerdam? Is it for everyone, regardless of stateroom? How can I find out? So many questions--are there any answers? At my local gym, there is a very small laundry bag that we all get. We stuff our very smelly shirts, shorts, socks etc. into the bag, zip it up and put it in the laudry basket. The next day, the same laundry bag is in my locker. It is clean but far from neat. I changed fabrics from cotton t-shirts to synthetic, because they were so wrinkled. It does not matter so much for the gym, but on the cruise ship I'd not like to walk around in such clothes.:)

Ruth and I always get the prepaid program. $45.00 for 7 days and you can put out one laundry bag per night. Works great for us as we come home with very little laundry.
Forgot to mention the Ruth says that If we don't get the prepaid program I have to do all the laundry and on the Vista Class ships there is no self Service laundry room...

Does the Volendam have this laundry service?

All of HAL ships now have this service. When you get on board go to the front desk and sigh up for it. Make sure you use the correct inventory sheets and write "PREPAID" across the bottom. Check you bill at the end very closely. We have had some problems with them billing us for each ag but they have corrected all of these problems.
Best way to motivate spouse to pay: Tell him he will do the laundry if he does not want the service....

Don't count on it! Some of my white sox came back pink, last summer on the Rotterdam. Our cabin steward sent them back and they were soaked white in bleach. The $12 bag is wonderful, though, especially now that it's a fabric bag instead of paper.

We were on the Westerdam Dec. 5th. The blue laudry bag is in the closet. You fill out the order sheet what is in the bag. Makes no difference if it is whites or color clothing. All is seperated before cleaning and is returned to your room folded on hangers or wraped in tissue paper in a basket.
Hopes this answeres your question. :)

They must have separated them on the Westerdam, because I included a slightly yellowed white skirt that had been hanging in my closet a home for too long -- figured it was okay to wear with swimsuit at HMC. Had planned to leave it on the ship, but included since the bag wasn't full. It came back looking like new. I don't know whether they ironed my t-shirts and undies, but they were neatly folded and wrinkle-free. At $12 for the whole bag, it was one of the best bargains abroad, except for the daily drink special.
