We are wondering if there are any other teens sailing on the Zaandam 6/18/10 Alaska cruise? We are booked - ds will be 17 and dd 13

You'll likely get a better response if you post your query on the Roll-Call board.

Have been on this sailings Roll Call but there is only one other person on it and they don't mention any teens. Really want to do this cruise with the kids but I don't want them to be the only teens on board either so I thought I would try here.

I would imagine there would be during the summer. I didn't look but I assume that is a 7day RT? If so there will be a better chance then on a longer trip. There have been quite a few kids/teens on both the HAL 7day RT I have been on.

You can call HAL and ask the breakdown of kids by kids club ages. They can't tell you specific ages but they can tell you "35 kids in 3-5 age group, 70 in 6-12, 24 in 13-18" for example. We didn't have an active roll call at all for our Alaskan cruise last summer but we had quite a few teens and both of my kids made a couple of friends and had a great time.

My first cruise was to Alaska, on Zaandam, when I was seventeen and my sister was thirteen. For what it's worth, though there were very few children on board in either of our age groups (maybe ten to twelve each), we enjoyed Alaska so much that we spent the vast majority of the cruise on the decks and in the restaurants with our parents. The few times they wanted to do something alone we had no problem amusing ourselves with in-room movies, heading to the theater, or getting a snack in the Lido.

My sister and I were both very surprised at the end of the cruise to have enjoyed the time with our parents so much and all four of us said that, in the end, we were glad there hadn't been enough children our ages on the cruise to really support any kind of organized activities. If you talk to HAL and they report low numbers, please don't let that automatically discourage you!
