Is the Zuiderdam docking at Havensight or Crown Bay these days?

As it gets closer to March you can look up your cruise on www.********** and see exactly where you will dock. Looking at January and February's schedules as they are posted will give you a more current idea of where the Zuiderdam is docking, too.

On the Dec 4 cruise on the Z we went to Crown Bay. They are building a welcome center/shopping area that might be ready for you. Much easier to get a cab and get into town from Crown Bay.

I checked both sites: usvi and vinow - neither have posted schedules beyond December 2004.

On the 11/20 sailing of Zuiderdam, ********** showed Crown Bay prior to embarkation, HAL embarkation letter on Saturday 11/20 denoted tendering, and then an announcement was made on Monday 11/22 to let us know that we would indeed be docking at Crown Bay (on Tuesday 11/23) instead of tendering (so that changed excursion times for some just slightly). Staff onboard told us that the previous week the Zuiderdam had to tender which was different from what vinow had showed online.

Our day in St Thomas (11/23): 3 ships docked at Havensight, Zuiderdam at Crown Bay, and Queen Mary anchored in the bay.

I agree, for ease of access to the "downtown" area, Crown Bay is preferred. We were there last March and I got to watch the docks being expanded and see where the foundations for the the shopping plaza was being poured.

Of the many times that we have cruised to St Thomas, most of the time we docked at Havensight and a couple of times we tendered right into Charlotte Amalie.

So this March it looks as though we will be at Crown Bay on the Volendam.

What is the view like at Crown Bay? What do you see?

I was disappointed with Crown Bay. It seemed like Havensight was closer to town. Crown Bay is in a blue collar area, in my opinion. It wasn't far from town but just to have to make that extra couple miles to port was not as convenient as Havensight would have been for the "just gotta buy a couple more gifts" person. (me!) We saw the area they are building that seemed to be a shopping area, and that will probably help make it a little more tourist-friendly.
