i have one correction to make and that was the embarkcation was surperb and the disembarckation was hectic. i just wanted to correct myself.

We were on the January 02nd cruise and had a great time. This was our first cruise on HAL.
I was shocked by the lack of service in the Lido, i realized it is a buffet but they could at least serve the drinks. Also, everythings shuts down at 8 PM there (but the pasta and pizza station). Service in the Vista dining room was sporadic. One night good, one night average.

I though the ship was very clean in general and well decorated.

I also agree with doing your own tour in Cabo. We paid $20 for the glass bottom tour for all 4 of us (2 adults,2 kids) when the ship wanted a total of over $100. But for the value, we can't really complain... $1600 for all 4 of us in an ocean view cabin...very hard to beat!

I hope that the lack of activities on sea days is only on your ship and not spreading to the other HAL ships.

We have always found a lot to do on sea days -- sometimes we had to choose between 2 activities that we like to do.

Would sail HAL again?
