I have made most of my recent cruises on Princess except for one on the Galaxy with our 16 y/o granddaughters last year. Will I embarass myself if I wear a dark suit on formal nights. My DW has a number of beautiful suits and dresses and always looks great even though she isn't wearing formals.

I guess that this is a strange question, but I don't have a formal anymore and don't feel like getting one for our upcoming 26 day cruise on the Prinsendam.

Advice please.

A dark suit is acceptable for a man on formal night, so you should not "embarass yourself" if that is what you choose to wear. However, why not rent a tux w/dinner jacket for such a nice cruise on such a nice ship?
A man always looks so smashing when dressed to kill.

Dark suit, white shirt, solid tie in silver gray. Worked for the English. Works for me.

Have fun. Sounds like a heck of a cruise.

A dark suit will do fine.

A dark suit will be fine. How about adding a bow tie to your white shirt, and then no-one can tell the difference.

Have a great cruise on the Prinsendam seen below.

On the recent Transatlantic cruise about 40% wore a tux the remainder were fine in dark suits.
Have a great cruise!

Thanks everyone. I think that I will follow Aussie Gals suggestion and buy a bow tie just for this occasion. My DW had picked out a solid silver gray tie when I bought the suit earlier this year. Must have been reading DFD1's mind. Now I hope that the new suit still fits next spring!

Happy Cruising all.
