Naples Museum from Sorrento, Pompeii Herculaneum from Amalfi?

Doing Regatta in April and will be in Sorrento, and then the following day in Amalfi. Did Pompeii a few years ago- and the Amalfi drive with visits to Positano and Ravello. This time want as much time as possible at the archeological museum in Naples and to further explore Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Is it reasonable to catch a ferry from Sorrento to Naples to do the museum there one day...and then again get a ferry from Amalfi to Sorrento to visit Pompeii on the next?

Replying to myself as I see my plans were a bit ambitious to say the least after looking into it. More like I was out of my mind. Guess the logistics are not too reasonable. Maybe we'll just enjoy Pompeii, possibly Herculaneum from Sorrento- and soak in the beauty of the Amalfi coast while we are there.
