Just curious, do many people put little signs on their cabin doors to better identify their cabins on the Oosterdam? I found this to be very helpful on my last cruise, but I wasn't sure if the masses on the Oosterdam would consider this in bad form.

We noticed several cabins had little ribbons tied on to the mail slot holder. Ours was a Christmas cruise so some of the doors had a lot of holiday decorations, but I think those little colored ribbons were mainly for navigation purposes, down the long hallways of similar doors and paneling.

It is always a challenge to find those directional clues to keep you going the right way on the right side of the ship. Even the weird little blue boys holding up the foyer benches on the Oosterdam helped set things straight so they were appreciated for their distinctiveness.

As I reported earlier, we always knew we were in the right direction on our hallway when we passed the interior door that gently wafted out all those fresh baked bread aromas. Delicious.

Many people decorate doors for birthdays or other occasions. Go to it!

I don't put any type of signs or decorations or any cabin door on any ship.

We don't put up signs either preferring to remain anonymous. We saw some signs but not a proliferation of them. Some identifying people as CC'ers. Some with things such as pets etc. One wonderful door covered with birthday cards to Grandma. With the loss of costume and talent contests maybe we should have a door decorating contest.

I have seen door decorations on every cruise line I have been on.

Why not?
Even if it's not your own door that's decorated, if someone else does it makes it easier to identify your cabin:
"I'm two aft from the door with the decorations"
:)

I have no problem finding my cabin. Even know the difference between odd and even numbers.
