With 3 days to go before departure my TA called and said that HAL needs veranda rooms and was willing to give us 75% off of our tickets if we switched to an oceanview room. This is in addition to the $100 pp credit that we received earlier. Cool.

It is my understanding that most cruise lines oversell as they know there will be a certain number of cancelations in the last few days. When it seems this will not happen they start making offers through certain TAs or agencys.

Wow - that ain't such a bad deal as long as you aren't on a Vista Class ship...

Personally I would never give up a verandah cabin.

What did you decide to do? Did you give it back to them for the savings?

Just wanted hear what others would do in this situation. The savings were 2K which made the trip for both of us including the $100 pp credit gave us a final cost of $700.

Did you give them back the veranda cabin or did you keep it?

I'd take the oceanview for a $700 cruise.

Yup! Me, too. Take the $700 cruise and then book another with a verandah. It would be a tough call, but that's a lot of money and you can put it toward another whole cruise with a verandah. Done deal for me:)

HAL can offer me that deal every time. :) I'll take it!

I could cruise more often for the same $$$$$. Sounds like a winner to me.

I agree, thats just a no brainer. :)

If I had to take an inside cabin, no.

But for an oceanview and that kind of refund ...I would do it in a heartbeat

I'd do it even for an inside cabin...to me, that refund just means I can book another cruise immediately.... :D :D

Congratulations and loads of good luck.

Good for you for grabbing the opportunity for a great savings. Hope you have a wonderful time.

What is the connie? I'm sure it is another cruiseline but there are so many ships these days, connie really means nothing to me. Thanks for explaining.

Great deal! I would have done it in a heartbeat! We like a balcony but don't require one - to those that do - I mean no disrespect, it is just not our highest priority, getting on the ship is! :)

Good for you!!!!!!, what a savings. I admit that I have been spoiled a lot lately with balconys and suite but to be offered that much money I certainly would jump on it also. That just means more money for the next cruise. I may like to spoil myself but I am not stupid enough to pass up the MOOLAAA$$$$$$$:D

As one who thinks balcony cabins are somewhat over-rated, I would take the cash in a minute.

I've had balcony cabins, and enjoyed them, but truth be known, I much prefer being out and about, prowling the ship, and people watching.
