Picked up our documents for our upcoming ms Oosterdam 7-day cruise to the Mexican Riviera on February 12, 2005. :p
We have booked a S-Category Veranda suite and the first thing I looked for in the document package was our VIP boarding tags. Seem to remember we had them on the ms Nordam.
What was I thinking? HAL seems to have cut back on VIP tags as a cost reduction. :(
This was confirmed when we called HAL through our TA to make sure they were not forgotten. I'm glad we can help save about twenty-five cents per tag with HAL, I'm sure this will be reflected when stock holders look at their Christmas bonus this year (ROTFLOL). ;)
Of course, we have enough perks with our suite and this is just a feel good item in the bigger world of cruising. Somewhere in the category of actually wearing your Mariner Soceity tin badge when you board.

Congrats on getting to do your DOC DANCE, Ring a few Holiday Bells along with it:D The VIP Boarding Tags are really not that important especially since Suite passengers have a Special window to check in at.
Enjoy your Dance I hope to be doing the same in about 4 to 5 weeks.:p

Enjoy your upcoming Westerdam cruise.
Now we just have to decide when to take our free cruise we won on the last Westerdam trip.

Raffin-
Congrats on your document dance!!
Rest assured, as a Suite customer you will get a gold star on your lapel at embarkation and a gold room key, vs. everyone else's green card. We received no "VIP" bag tags, but our luggage arrived into our Suite within 15 minutes of our embarkation!!

Give the man a Gold Star! I've never laughed so hard. I always wanted the "Blue Star" in second grade (placed on the forehead for some reason) by the teacher. The blue color was a regal blue that outshined the gold ones.
Looking at your Avatar, do they place the Gold Star on your brown paper bag?

Looking at your Avatar, do they place the Gold Star on your brown paper bag? It's more than just a paper bag. It's a respiratory bacteria guard; standard issue gear used in the witness protection program; a sea sickness collecting device; an impromptu shopping recepticle for use in the boutiques until your nice canvas tote is placed on your bed; a container for transporting midnight snacks back to your cabin from the Lido lunch buffet; and a stand-by dirty clothes hamper. And you thought it was just a plain brown sack! ;)

I hate to say it but I think the Gold Star and Gold Key has gone Bye Bye also. When we were on the Ryndam the only thing different to distinguish Suite passengers from regular passengers was our shipboard card, it was goldish in color compared to the others that were blue.

We have been in suites on HAL for many. many years. This past Oct when we boarded the Statendam we got our first "gold" cruise cards. We never had them on any other ship.
We did get our Mariner luggage tags in our documents for our up-coming cruise on the Westerdam.

Enjoy your dance ... such a banner day:)
On the Oosterdam we saw a nice couple both wearing gold stickies on their shoulders and I couldn't imagine what they were so I asked them. They said that's what they got for paying the "big bucks".
We all laughed and said "you paid the big bucks and all you got was a gold sticky???" LOL.

If I get a "gold sticker" I'll be sure to stick in the middle of my forehead and send a photo to all.
