Can anyone walking outside see into the lower promenade rooms on the Volendam. (ej C3370). Thanks,

We just got back from 10 days on the volendam. No, one cannot see into those staterooms. That could be either good or bad depending on how adventuresome one happens to be.

You can't see into them at all during the day but at night, when the lights are on in the cabin, I suggest you draw your window curtains.

A good rule to follow is to close the drapes at sunset. From personal experience, that is when the lighting seems to be such where one can begin to see into these staterooms. It's easy to forget, though, especially when you're stepping out of the washroom from showering and forget that that window is just around the corner - haha - again, not from PERSONAL experience per se .. ;)

We had a forward facing cabin on the Noordam - while it was high enough no one could see into it - it was directly under the bridge and each evening (at sun down) we received a phone call asking if we would close the curtains as the cabin lights interferred with the navigation of the ship!
We had cruised in the cabin next to ours in July 2000 and never had this request... we were somewhat interested in why, but not enough to pursue it - if anyone knows offhand, I'd be interested.
