Having never tried a cruise tour before, I have to ask about this. We're only on the ship three days, so use of on board facilities won't be much of an issue. But after a few more days on land, we're going to require some fresh clothing.
Do you just find time to do laundry at one of the hotels? Is there any opportunity to leave laundry somewhere and pick it up later? We're off to Alaska and the Yukon at the end of May for over two weeks, tacking on two days on our own at the end of the cruise tour.
I'd rather not spend time on land in a laundry, but my guess is we'll have no choice?

After our cruise we rented a motor home. We found many places where we could do laundry ourselves or leave it for an extra charge which was not expensive. However this was on the highway and I don't know about such facilities in places like Anchorage or Seward. If you can get ahold of the "milestone" (I believe that's its name) tour book that lists every facility by mile location on each road you might get some help.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm thinking of days 1-13 when we are on the cruise tour, traveling with the group and staying at hotels in different locales most nights. I figure we'll be fine until we get off the boat, but I can't see packing enough clean clothes to last two weeks. About day 6 I'll be looking desperately for someplace to wash things.
My main question is how do people who go on a cruise tour get clean clothes midway through. Most hotels don't let you run the machines at 1 am, so I have visions of hiring a cab to go to the Fairbanks Suds and Duds. I'll miss those self-serve laundries and/or the laundry cleaned on a per bag basis on the ships!

It's THE MILEPOST, but this will be of little use for a cruisetour visitor as they have no transportation outside of the tour. Are you taking the cruise first? Then I would do your laundry on the ship- you can send it out. Some of your hotels may have laundry- I would do it as available. I never rewear clothes, but some people don't mind? Without your own transportation- you are going to be limited to my above suggestions. You aren't going to be in areas where laundry will be walkable, so keep checking what is available at your lodging.

We spent three months in Australia and the South Pacific last year. When a hotel was not able to do what we wanted, we took our things to a laundry cleaner. Each time they would deliver them back to the hotel.
Never had a problem.:D Happy Sailings...Leslie Swiger:)
