I booked with the same on-line TA and got those same extras. So far, unable to beat their price and service. Can not mention the name but think it is the same one. We were lucky to find them!

The "Mariner discount" is $50/p on "select cruises" ... usually not in the Caribbean because that region is so competitive. Yes, you can do a lot better through most TAs - but HAL doesn't really want to price-compete with TAs because HAL needs them for much of their business. Usually the price you get from a TA includes the Mariner discount, if applicable.

Prices vary between sites and are always changing. I have seen fares unbelievably high on the HAL site, but there has also been times that they have been lower than anywhere else (usually after final payment).
There is no single site that is always the lowest, so if you are determined to get the lowest price, be sure to shop around all of the travel and price compare sites.

Holiday cruises generally are more expensive.
When we have booked with a TA for HAL, I watch HAL specials, if the price comes down we have asked for the better price. Sometimes we have even rebooked to get it.

Personally I have never had HAL come anywhere close to the deals I've been able to get through my Internet TA's. Since we typically book SS or B categories or above the savings have been in the hundreds of dollars range. Sure, if we were talking $100 then I'd be more inclined to go directly with HAL but we're not. In 2004, when we returned to cruising after a six year break, I joined Cruise Critic and signed up for a roll call for an upcoming cruise we booked through our long time brick and mortar TA. On the cruise we became friends with a fellow CCer and they shared that they'd booked through an on line TA and were very happy. I checked out their reference after the cruise and discovered they'd paid $1,000 less for an SA than we'd paid for an SS! We don't want or need any support from a TA other than booking the room. We arrange our own air travel, rental cars, pre and post cruise hotels, etc. and have never had a problem. Seven cruises later, all booked on line, and we've probably paid for one to two of our cruises with the on line savings versus directly with HAL or most brick and mortar TA's. :)

HAL can't undercut the TA prices - If they did, TA's would refuse to sell HAL cruises.
Remember Renaissance Cruises?
Didn't think so - That's because Renaissance never gave TA's any different pricing than what was available to the public, TA's wouldn't present that line as an option to clients and the line went belly up.
