What activities, beaches, and hotels (day rates with good pools and access to beach) are recommended at Cozumel and the Cayman Islands for children ranging in age from three, five and six?

We went to a fairly new beach in Cozumel called Paradise Beach. It is owned by an American guy (firefighter, I think). Take a taxi for about $15.00 or so and about 15-20 minute drive. The facilities were great. It has a water trampoline, rock climbing pyramid thing, kayaks, snorkeling, a pet parrot that our kids enjoyed, beach chairs and umbrellas, a restaurant and bar, very clean restrooms. It was free to get in, and you pay a small deposit to rent the snorkeling equipment. The food at the restaurant was typically tourist pricey, but we just got a few orders of nachos to share, and they were very good. Bring your own sand toys with you. It was a fantastic day!
There is another beach that we almost went to called Playa Corona, and we have heard good things about it. But there is an admission charge to it. They do have some sort of a zoo though. Check out the web sites.

here's what we've done numerous times in coz. not sure where dis docks, but take a taxi to the el cid. tell them you want to use the facilities for the day. you don't want the hotel presentation. they'll tell you that the beach is free if you do that. we paid $10 for 3 people. got to use the beach and pools (2) the whole day. the food is good, the drinks are great. plus..... NO VENDORS. very important when selecting a place to hang out for the day. as far as cayman, a lot has changed since the hurricane. there's usually some kind of "beach break" that the cruise lines will rip you off for. better bet to ask the cab driver to take you to a hotel beach for the day. caymanians are friendly and are happy just to have the island back after the devastation. just get off the ship and walk to the end of the dock. ask somebody where you can catch a cab. you might have to walk a block or so. worth it compared to paying for the beach break that the ship would offer.

We loved the Western.

In Grand Cayman we went on Captain Marvins but since your children are smaller maybe that's not for you. I think 7 mile beach is close though. It's such a pretty island.

When in Cozumel with children, take them mini-golfing! Large iguanas sit atop of the rocks and you can get sodas brought right to your golfing hole. http://www.geocities.com/smallsal/minigolf/index.html We were able to walk from the ship. It's around 5 blocks or so. From there we took a cab to Mr. Sanchos which is a free beach. My son and I snorkeled and saw some smaller fish and we made friends with a flounder. It allowed us to practice for Castaway Cay.
