View Full Version : HAL Fleet menus or best night for the PG/Tamarind on Eurodam

I have searched all over and cannot find menus for 7 night HAL cruises. DH and I want to eat in the Pinnacle Grill, or Tamarind one evening, but need to know the best night to skip the dining room.

Are the menus posted somewhere, or are there any suggestions for which night to skip the dining room on the Eurodam?

This is the first year that someone in a long time did not post any menus from any ship.

In 2008 when we got home from the Eurodam I posted the menus -- but that is a long time ago.

And the menus have changed since then.

Yes, I found the older menus, but then read they had changed.

Any ideas on what night we should skip dinner?

It's usually on the last night of the cruise, so you have to plan ahead a bit if you're going to tip your wait staff.

If this is your first cruise on HAL, then you may want to attend the Master Chef's night. Once experienced, though, is enough IMHO. I just don't care for it so I try to eat at the Pinnacle that night.

Never been on a 7 day cruise (always longer), so don't know how crowded the Pinnacle gets. If you want to take your chances, you could wait until the menus are posted in the morning and then decide.

Just as a little etiquette tip - if you're seated in fixed dining at a table with others, it's nice to let them, or the wait staff, or the dining room manager (in that order) know if you're not going to be dining with them on a certain night. That way there's no delay in ordering as they all wait for you, and it's just, well, polite.

Enjoy your cruise!

I just got off the Eurodam on 1/2/10 and my wife saved all the menus delivered to our cabin. I will try to scan and post these or type the menus. That would take a while for me.

No, this will be my third cruise with HAL (DH's second) and we like to dine the last night in the dining room. ;) I liked the Master Dinner on the Noordam. Much better than the RCCL Farewell dinners.

We are dining alone unless something changes, and also have experience in letting the waiters know we will not be eating dinner. Great tips for others that have not sailed. :)

kjw869 - Thank you so much, but please do not go to the trouble of typing.

Scanning or even taking close-up photos will work fine. ;) I found when trying to take photos of a 1780's slave journal, that it was much easier (and less time consuming than scanning) to take photos with my close-up feature of my camera and then save to my computer and CD.

We chose to book the Tamerind on the first night and the Pinnacle on the last night. We'll book the Italian restaurant if possible on the Wed evening.

I know what you mean -- I came home and typed mine -- I have not a clue as to how to scan anything.

Think about though -- the Caribbean season will soon be ending and the ships will be moving to their locations -- and again -- new menus.

Do you really want to go to all that trouble?

Ah, I asked this exact question about a month ago and there were no menus then, either. I still would love to know before we cruise. kjw869 - scans would be WONDERFUL but please don't give yourself carpal tunnel trying to type all that!

I think we may skip the Pinnacle (the name reminds me of the summer camp I grew up going to lol) this time (we have been on the Oosterdam) and go for the Tamarind. I have read such wonderful reviews of that place. Not the first night, though. We really do enjoy the traditional dining room experience. So, if it's good and the service is good, we might as well stay and eat free. :D

Any night is a good night for Tamarind. Don't wait till the end of the cruise because you might want to go more than once. It's really special. And don't forget to try Tamarind for lunch. It's a fixed menu, was free when I ate there, and is really good.

Ok, I have all the menus scanned and ready to be posted--but how? I feel sort of stupid as I've been in the computer field since the early 70s. But, I'm lost on this message board regarding inserting or pasting photos. I uploaded a PNG file as an attachment, but it was unreadable and only 8.5K. Is there a way to just copy and paste ala Windows?

I know Pipedreams has the answer as many others do. Can someone lead me in the right direction. We brought the menus back to post on CC as I noticed others have asked for this in this past.

Thank You,

Ken

PS: If that can't be done, I'll have to zip them and send via e-mail.

I don't know how to help you but can somebody else pleeease do ?:o I'm very interested in those menus since we will be boarding the Eurodam in 3 weeks. So far we have booked the Tamarind for the last night and thinking about booking the Pinnacle on another night. Trying to decide which one and the menus would help a lot !

You have to join some type of photo sharing program. I use www.Photobucket.com and it is a free service. You upload your scans to that program, and then copy/paste links into your message on CC.

Glad you figured it out. I've already printed day one and will share with my DH tonight. He likes to read all the CC stuff in bed when we are preparing for a cruise. :D

Now, can anyone tell me which night they think we should skip?

How much do menus usually vary with the change in location - say from the Caribbean to the Atlantic Coastal? Are sea day menus typically different from port days? So far my recent HAL cruises have been two Westerdam Caribbean and one Eurodam Norwegian-US coastal, so I don't have as much to compare as many on this board. Also, are the formal nights usually sea days? As I recall menus were a bit fancier for formal nights.

This is great! Would anyone have sample menus from the Noordam?

You are welcome Nathalie.

I see you were on the Westerdam. We sailed her in Feb. 09 in the Western Caribbean and 90 days later to Alaska. We love that ship.

But the Eurodam is new and has some wonderful areas that the Westerdam doesn't.

Hope you enjoy your crusie as much as we did!

Thank you Kjw869. As you can see last year on the Westerdam was only our second cruise, but we loved her and the staff so much, we decided that HAL was the company we wanted to cruise on from now on. Doing the Eurodam in 2010 and hopefully the Noordam in the future. We saw the Eurodam when she came to Quebec city in 2008 and 2009 and can't wait to board her !

CRUISIN MANIAC - We booked the Tamarind for the last night but looking at the menus, the 4th night seems less appealing to us. We are going to change our booking at the Tamarind from the last for the 4th night. First night looks like a night we might want to skip too.

Ha! This afternoon, I booked the Tamarind for the 4th night. I said the same thing to my DH. The first night and 4th night. He said 3rd or 4th. We don't want to miss the first or last night since we have Traditional dining in the Upper Late. We like getting to know our servers. :)

Thank you very much for taking the time to post the menus. Have to agree that day 3 & 4 do not look to be that great.
