Anyone know of a rental car agency near the HAL pier in SAN? Or, does anyone know if I return a car at the airport if they will drive us to the pier? One of the agencies I rented from in Lauderdale did that for us a few years ago.
Thanks

I think Hertz does as they list the cruise ship terminal as a location.

Avis has an airport location and one on Kettner Blvd. DH and I have picked up at the Airport location and returned to Kettner Blvd. (downtown) and they will take you to the pier. Actually when we dropped off the car at the airport one time they took us to the pier as well but we just like dropping off closer to the pier. The airport and the pier in San Diego are only about 3 miles apart.

I rented a car from Avis in San Diego one time (not connected to a cruise). It was the airport off-site location and nearly right on the water. I'm not sure about a shuttle, but if you leave your bags before returning your car, it would definitely be possible to walk back to the ship (it can't be much more than a mile, if I remember correctly). I think there is a city bus route that work work for you, as well, and not cost more than a few dollars.

Avis at Kettner does have a shuttle van so either way I am sure they will get you where you need to go. Good luck and have a great cruise.

We did it kind of round-a-bout but the morning of the cruise we took our luggage to the pier and dropped it off then took the car back (Dollar), took their shuttle back to the airport and simply caught a cab from there to the pier. Total cost for the taxi was less than $10.

I used Avis in San Diego. Dropped the luggage off with the porters and then returned the car. Walked back to the pier it is 1.1 miles on flat, paved walkway along the water. It was very easy to do.
Avis also offered to shuttle me over to the pier.

We always rent one way cars to SD. We return to the airport location and take the shuttle to the Holiay Inn on the Bay, it is right across the street from the cruise terminal.

Whatever we used last year would not take me back to the pier. I think it was Enterprise. I am glad to hear that the others will.

Dropped off rental car at Hertz's airport office on two occasions (last time Oct. 2009) and they took us and our luggage on a shuttle bus to the cruise terminal. Dropped off a car at Avis airport office once and their employee just drove us and luggage to terminal in that same car.
There is also a long term parking for your own car where they will shuttle you and your luggage to the terminal.
