I wanted to buy one or two prior to departing on April 19, but the website keeps saying not available. Does anyone know when they will be available?

I called Celebrity about a price drop (:)) and asked this question. I was told that you couldn't purchase the wine packages ahead of time. She mentioned that the wines on board the Equinox were "more extensive" than the ones listed in the packages, and that new packages hadn't been organized yet. She suggested to speak with someone when we board.

I think she may have mis-pronounced that word - it should be "more exPensive"

There is no wine package on Equinox - at least there wasn't one when we sailed Jan.25. The sommelier suggested that the only package available was if you purchased 3 bottles at one time, they would offer I believe a 10% discount. I'm always a little angry at the prices by the bottle for what I know I could purchase on land for 1/3 of the price. And yet, somehow I seem to get past it and ordered several bottles over the 11 nights. :D

What about brining wine on board? We are doing the Med on the Equinox this summer, and we like to buy wines while in port. We were able to do this on HAL, for a corkage fee (when the wine steward felt like charging it, which wasn't often!), and it worked great. We got some great wines at reasonable prices; far better on both counts than the selections available on the ship.

Celebrity allows two bottles of wine per stateroom to be brought on at the time of embarkation only. No charge to consume the wine in your stateroom, $25 corkage fee for dining rooms and bars/lounges.

It seems like Celebrity does not always enforce this rule. On both my Celebrity cruises (one Caribbean, one transatlantic) I brought back wine or beer from a couple of ports. I did not disguise it and was planning on turning it over to security, but security did not say anything when I placed the wine/beer on the xray machine. I even paused holding the bottle up the first two times looking at security, but they did not do/say anything. There was no table set up for checking alcohol. From reading these boards sometimes this happens, sometimes they do set up a table and hold onto alcohol until the last night of the cruise.

So you certainly might be able to bring back some wines from the ports, but you should not count on definitely being able to do this.

Thanks. We'll give it a try and see what happens. Wow, $25 is high! HAL charged $10 (when.....) and Princess was $15 just this past November.
