Could somebody give me the website to find out what ship is in port and when. I'm on the Volendam right now and I need to know who will be in Port Everglades on the 5th of January.
My father passed away and I have to get back to Canada ASAP. Need to know how busy that port will be when I try to disembark. Have an early flight. Our embarkation was very slow because they took till almost 11:00 to clear the ship. We leave at 10:40 from Ft. Lauderdale airport.
Julie if your reading this, go to the website and check for me if it comes up with an answer.

Sorry to hear about your father. Sending you condolences.
But, why are you waiting to disembark on January 5? You certainly can leave the ship before that to get home to your family????
In any event, I checked Cruisecal for you. On that date, there will be five ships at Port Everglades. Crystal Symphony, Rotterdam, Volendam, Silver Whisper, and QE2.
That is an early flight to be 'sure' of catching. You may be off and at the airport okay.....but maybe not. Good luck.

I am very sorry for your loss. When all these ships are in, the Fort Lauderdale airport is a real zoo. I think you should approach someone on the ship, explain the situation and make sure you have an early debarkation ticket. When you get your luggage tag, go the front office and make sure it is for an early debarkation. Even better, you could also ask if you can keep your luggage with you so you could go straight to the taxi and not have to look for the luggage at the terminal. They should be able to make an exception and if they don't, ask to speak to someone in charge, even the captain, if necessary. Also, as a Canadian, you will have to go through immigration on the ship. This is usually done very early in the morning for non-U.S. citizens. Good luck.

Speak to someone on the ship and let them know. I cruised to weeks ago on the Zuiderdam and am also from Canada. We had to change our flights to be back in Toronto by 3 at the latest. We also were on the 10:40 flight (I am assuming you are on the Air Canada fllight). We were able to get off the ship with the first group. Most importantly....KEEP YOUR LUGGAGE WITH YOU...you can take it off yourself and it saves a ton of time once you get into the terminal. We were off...through the terminal and in the first taxi to the airport. We got there for just after nine with lots of time. Good luck to you and take care.

Just to add to my note....no big deal through immigration. There are 2 lines in the terminal...one for US and one for non US. There were maybe 3 people in each line and they were maybe 30 seconds...so don't worry too much about that. The key is to be first off and by doing so there are no line ups for customs.

Sorry about your Father - my condolences.
Speak to the GRM (Guest Relations Manager) and I am sure he/she will be able to help you.
If that flight you are taking out of FLL is to Toronto (939), then last Monday it didn't arrive in FLL until 10:40am, so didn't leave until 11:20am. Our friends who were on the Westerdam were booked for the 3pm flight but were able to get on that flight instead and had plenty of time to spare. There was no Immigration was not done on the ship - they just handed their Immigration cards and passport to the official as they got off the ship. They said it was oh, so much easier this way and they didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn to meet with officials on board.

I would let the number of ships in port be the least of your concerns at this time. Plenty of cabs are available and the ride to FLL is barely ten minutes. As far as early disembarkation, it should not be an issue after speaking with the Front Office.

madaroch - just checked the Volendam's itinerary and the ship will be in Barbados tomorrow and San Juan in 3 days. Why don't you leave the ship in either of these ports to get home as quickly as you can to your family?

Thanks so much to all of you for your input, it has made me feel so much better. I spoke directly to the guest relations manager and she has assured me she will get me out with the suite guests. We will keep our baggage with us, that's a great idea. I have also made alternative arrangements with Westjet, and booked for a later flight incase we run into trouble. We have a 6 hours stop in Toronto before heading back to Calgary. So one way or the other we are getting out of here.
I have thought about just getting off, but I have spoken to my family and we made a family decision to let them handle the details and I'll be home ASAP. My father wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I don't know maybe by the time San Juan or Nassau hits, I'll make another decision.
God Bless all of you.
