This may be a repeat. If it is please excuse me.

We just got documents for Prinsendam world cruise. Several of you have mentioned a list of theme nights, buying internet minutes and other things that our documents do not mention. Where is everyone getting this information? I thought it would be with the documents but it wasn't. Is there a "Know Before You Go" booklet specifically for the world cruise? Any information on the above will be really appreciated by me and my TA.

Thanks,
Leslie

There was a thread fairly recently wherein a poster was asking for ideas of what to wear on various theme nights; the poster listed out all the themes, but I don't remember them now.
Perhaps a search would help you find it? I presume the poster was sent the info by HAL in preparation for the cruise. That was how it was handled on a "Grand Cruise" I took some years ago. We were sent several pages of information that included a reading list and lots of other things I can't remember any more.

As far as Internet time goes, unless there are special plans for a World Cruise (I never heard of any) the cost should be the same as on shorter cruises.
That is a $3.95 set-up charge (once). The per minute fee is $0.75/minute. There are two plans at $55/100 minutes or $100/250 minutes. Both of these are renewable as your time runs out.
Be on the lookout for specials. Sometimes there is a "sign up today" and get extra time deal.
You might want to research Internet Cafes in the various ports. Much cheaper, but remember, not every language uses the same keyboard or alphabet as English.

Hope this helped. And have the time of your life!

If your TA calls the Special Accounts Dept. at HAL they can give her a list of the theme nights and their dates...at least they could in the past. This is the department that books the WC.

Good luck. I know when we went on the WC in 2001 I think we had about 14 special theme nights.

We are going on the whle world cruise. We received about 10 ago a whle itinery of formal informal and casual nights along with theme nights. Also the package for the shipping of the luggage. Also a package of things you can buy before you get on the ship eg;; Internet time discounted, laundry packages, wines, ect. Our travel agent was sent all this from holland and forwarded it to us. we received our tickets a week later, and that was all we got was the tickets. The first package was very exciting to receive. I would get intouch with your TA and have them get on the phone to Holland asap. Looking forward to this wonderful trip, we have been on teh Prinsendam 3 times and love the ship and the staff are wonderful. Sincerely Alsas

Thanks, everyone, for the info. I think we didn't get the packet that Alsas was describing and that is what I was looking for. I have forwarded her message to my TA so she can get with HAL on it. We are really getting excited about the trip.

This is the sort of situation where these boards are so very helpful.

I'm happy you got the responses you were seeking and can now have your TA make sure you get all pertinent info.

Hope you have a wonderful time.

You might want to research Internet Cafes in the various ports. Much cheaper, but remember, not every language uses the same keyboard or alphabet as English.Warning, be careful what you send from the computer in an Internet Cafe. Remember that the data that you send/receive will remain on the hard drive after you leave. Anyone with the requsite computer skills can follow you on the computer and get all of your information. So don't send/receive credit card numbers or anything else that you don't want someone else to have.

I'm the one who posted the "theme nights" thread on the Floataway lounge and got some good suggestions. I didn't post the dates, but they correspond to the ports as scheduled and here is that list:

Aztec, Casual
Black & White Ball, Formal
Mardi Gras, C
Valentine's Ball, F
Farmer's Ball, C
Speakeasy, F
Sultan of Brunei, F
St. Patrick's Ball, F
Oriental, Daytime Event
Easter, F
Farewell to Taj, F
Black & Gold Ball, F
Out of Africa, F
Carnivale in Rio, F
Pirates of Caribbean, Informal

Our papers are at our Florida home where we will be by tomorrow evening, so email me if you need more detailed information on dates.
