Just wanted to alert all those planning to travel out of or into the Northeast on Thursday--you might want to start making other arrangements--as this is coming our way!

My brother is flying down on Friday to FL from Newark NJ and now I'm starting to worry. We're flying out of Minneapolis & our weather sounds clear thank goodness.

I don't think Boston is going to be hit. It's too warm here for snow. We'll probably get heavy rain.

We definitely do not want any more snow -- the other snow storms caused major damage to our house.

Total Restoration was here this morning.

While we tend to think of these things in terms of "I hope they get the airport opened quickly enough after it hits," the airlines also know these storms are coming, and rather than having thousands of stranded passengers, they are generally very willing to have you switch to an earlier flight to get out ahead of the weather.

Just a thought. You might pay for an extra hotel night at the port, but it beats missing the cruise. It also has the advantage of reducing your stress.

It's raining here too--but we're going to get hit --it will be cold enough to snow by Thursday.
I will never see the ground again.

I will say from our recent experience getting home from Tampa during the last snow events that it is true that often airlines will di their best to rebook you if they can. Our Southwest flight was cancelled, we were booked on a flight that might have put us in the middle of the second storm and they changed us to an earlier flight--no problem no extra fees.
A similar thing happened in December when my DB was flying in from the midwest, flight changed, no extra fees.
So try to change flights now if you can. After all the crazy stuff we've had this winter you may get lucky.

Flying out of Boston Friday 7pm looks like rain so far. Not to sure about the wind. I heard 40mph

It's not always the condition of your local airport that delays or cancels flights.
It sometimes that aircrafts flying through cities that do have the weather problems are delayed or canceled getting to your departure airport.

Keep that in mind also when adjusting your plans.

A couple of years ago a hurricane was headed our way on the day we were flying to Long Beach so I booked new air 2 days early and paid for extra hotel nights and cancelled flights. But it was worth it!!! We missed Wilma and went on our cruise.

This could be a rain/snow event, but when it gets cold at night it can freeze and cause all kinds of problems ... better safe than sorry!

A BIG heads up. These planes fly all over, and the logistics of moving a lot of flights must be a nightmare.
Years ago, my son was on a charter of 4 highschool bands that went to Hawii. They were 3 days late getting the plane there for the flight back to Texas as the plane was stuck in the snow in NY!
SWA started to find out these problems when then started flying further than Texas. And fog could mess up schedules even then.

Check your airline webpage for any possible travel waivers. As already posted, the weather in your area can be meaningless as far as your flights being on time. The plane you are flying on could be coming from another city that will be hit by the storm.
