It's been 10 years since I was last on a HAL cruise so I have questions about coffee served on board. Do they still have the coffee bars, and is there is now a charge for the coffee (which I recall was far better than the dining room coffee)? Is it possible to have anything other than regular brewed coffee served at meals, or do you need to go to a bar for an espresso or other coffee drink? Thank you for your replies!

I am not sure what the coffeee bards ar ethat you refer to from 10 years ago but there is an Explorations Cafe that sells coffee (Starbucks style). In the Dining Room you could order espressos and cappuccinos.

You will be pleasantly surprised when you discover the Explorations area on the HAL ships. In my opinion, it's the best place on the ship. Great coffee, extremely comfortable seating, wide selection of reading material..can't beat it.

I am picky about coffee and have found that the coffee in the HAL dining rooms is very, very good. The coffee in the Lido is OK...(not sure if I am only imagining the difference or not).

I do treat myself to a coffee card which provides a bit of a discount on your coffee purchases.

As the earlier poster noted, you can order cappucino and espresso in the dining room.

... and the cappuccinos and espressos in the DR are free, but not in the Explorations Cafe.
