We are going on this cruise soon and would love to know what excursions you took when you went. What do you wish you would have done and what was your favorite thing you did? Thank you!:p

We just returned from the Zuiderdam 2/21 Panama Canal Cruise. Booked Embera Indian excursion through HAL. We used private tours in Curacao, Aruba and Costa Rica. By far Costa Rica was our favorite port. We booked thru Curacao-Actief and Kim was a great guide. EL tours in Aruba sent us Tony and he was equally great. Used Oscar Brown Tours in Costa Rica and we actually had Oscar as our driver and Katherine as our guide. They spent six hours with us and we saw many out of the way places and had lunch at a local restauant (menu in Spanish), Katherine ordered for us, and stopped at a local supermarket for cheap coffee and vanilla. Would highly recommend all of these tour operators. Very professional and much cheaper than HAL excursion. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to elaborate.

I took the Zuiderdam in January (12-22).
We did the Eco Cruies on Gutan Lake - really enjoyed it... nice boat ride - saw lots of wildlife. We had 45 min or so at the Locks' Observation center and got to see the ship pass back through the locks.
In Costa Rica we took the Carribean Train, Eco Cruise and Countryside - really enjoyed this too. Similar boat ride (though river instead of lake), cool train ride through the rain forest, and we got to see and learn about banana growth/ harvesting at a banana plantation.
I really enjoyed both ship organized excursions.
We went on our own in Curacao and Aruba and had great days too.
Enjoy your cruise.
