Anyone know how strict celebrity is out of the port of san juan with bringin on liqour from either the port shops or in luggage. Travelling April and the $80 dollar per bottle price tag is very steep. What has been you recent experience.

Thanks

EVERYTHING goes through a scanner......like the airport, they'll take it and save it for you.

They have specialty signature drinks every day for 5.00 by the specialty restaurants.
12.00 (with gratuity) awesome shaken martinis at the CRUSH (not your applebees variety....they are strong and awesome).

There is also inexpensive wine that is great (6 dollar malbec from argentina.....you can request it even if it is shown on the menu).

You won't get away with it, you'll be disappointed.

We are sailing on the Millie, April 5th out of SJU. This will be our 18th cruise, 4th on Celebrity. We always take on vodka, whiskey and kahlua in our checked luggage. Just enough to have a few drinks in the room while dressing for dinner. We have never been questioned or any of it taken from us. We plan on taking it again this time. Our cruise is 11 nights and we will buy the alcohol, along with bottles of wine for dinner once we arrive in San Juan. Repack our luggage and include it in our checked luggage. I always take 2 beach bags that lay flat in our luggage. We then take out some of the clothing to make room for the bottles, which I pack in bubble wrap material. The clothes I remove goes in the flat beach bags. We don't take the alcohol to stiff Celebrity on the onboard account. We still spend plenty in the bars, especially the Martini Bar. We just like the convenience of having a drink or 2 while dressing for dinner, however long that might take.

The duty free liquor store is right in the terminal directly across from the check in desk. You can make your purchases there if you want and put them in your carry on bag. Do NOT try to carry them on in the bag you get from the store. They do go through a scanner, but MOST people can get away with it and carry it onboard. All they will do if they find it is take it and hold it for you until the end of the cruise. We have also made purchases in port on our stops and carried them back on with no problems. If you want a back up, buy some rum runners, fill them up with your favorite drink and pack them in your checked luggage tucked away out of sight (not sitting on top). Supposeduly they are undetectable with the scanners. Enjoy your cruise!
