We are booked in Cat S 4180 on the Zuiderdam. Has anyone stayed in this cabin and can tell me anything about it? Is the verandah covered or uncovered? Does the cabin have a sofa? How close does it look like the picture on the web site?

We had that cabin for a B2B in Oct. It was great the balcony wraps around the back part is not covered the side is.The balcony is WAY bigger than the side suites the cabin is a little smaller. We had a table with 4 chairs 2 padded loungers and 2 chairs with ottomans and still had plenty of empty space. There is a sofa amd separate dressing room, whirlpool tub and a separate shower.A great view off the back especially at night.Any thing else just ask. Tom:
How much smaller is the aft cabin than the side S suites? Can you tell me more about the aft balcony on this ship? We just returned from Golden Princess with our first aft balcony, Vista suite, and it was unbelieveable! I am now searching for another perfect aft balcony! On the Z, when you say the side is covered, what exactly does that mean? On the Golden, the cabin next door couldn't see our balcony (unless they were to lean way over the railing and around), nor could anyone above see down on ours. Do you mean that those cabins above you can look down in on you? Also, When we look straight down off the balcony, will we be looking directly at the water, or into another balcony or some "dead" space?
Also, would you please provide more information about the S suite ammenities? I couldn't find much on the HAL web-site. One post I read said they were able to get breakfast and lunch in the Neptune lounge; is that true of all HAL ships? In the evening, does the lounge provide no charge cocktails before dinner, etc.? Also, can you wait in the lounge or some other special place, prior to disemarking on the final day?
Any information is appreciated! Thanks!

OK Kelfly,Lets see the room is a little smaller hardly noticable. We had S Suite 4180 on the corner the side wasnt as wide as the back but long we had 2 lounge chairs there. The back extends out when you look off it you see ships wake, and the way its angled you have half the balcony where you can be seen half where you cant. The Neptune is nice but we didnt think it was a big deal as some on here make itThey do have a breakfast and light lunch and offer treats during the day,NO Holland doesnt offer cocktails at no charge in there.Getting on and off the ship was great we werer on 1st 11:30 and 1st off also free laundry in suites worked out real well for us.We did a B2B.We were invited to the captains table the 2nd week I dont know if it was because of suite or B2B,also a bottle of cheap champane. You can have breakfast, lunch,or dinner brought to room ny night, you get the menu every morning to your room.Anything else? Thanks Tom; just so I understand correctly; this suite has the balcony both on the back, continuing around to the side? That sounds great! Please let me know if that is correct.
How about internet? On Princess, you get free use of the internet cafe when in a suite. Is that the same on Holland? If not, do you know what they charge per minute of use?
Inside the suite... Does the curtain actually divide the bedroom completely from the sitting area (if one choses to sleep in and the other doesn't?)
Thanks again.

Thanks! Holland sure is a lot more than Princess. They were only $0.35 per minute on our December 2004 cruise! My husband is sailing Holland Zandam in August (Alaska) and we are planning a trip on Zuiderdam in December. If he purchases one of the packages in August and has minutes remaining, do you know if the card will work in December on a different ship? We are interested just in the internet cafe desk tops, not a lap top or wireless service.
Thanks!

Thanks for all of the great information. We are in an aft S catagory on the 8/27 sailing and it has been helpful.

Hello
I am trying to figure out which cabin to select. Cabin 4180 seems to have a much smaller deck out the aft but seems to be wider up the side,BUT it seems that the window washing equipment is always parked in front of this cabin. Is this so? It would seem annoying to be there all the time. And, my other choice is 7133 that seems to have a deck double the depth of 4180, but is narrower up the side. I am wondering if 7133 has no privacy from the people on Lido deck other than that side arm, and it makes sense to give up that extra deck space? Did those people who had deck 7 corners find that there weren't, a lot of people hanging down looking at you often? Even I am confused writing this. Thanks

If you have a special choice as to where you would like to sit, I am sure the Concierge will convey your preference to the Maitre d' when making your reservation.

We've had 7133 on the Zuiderdam and we enjoyed it. We've also had 5186 and 5187 twice but never 4180. As always just my opinion but I'd pick 7133 over 4180. We never had a big problem with people looking down on us from the Lido deck they usually just come for awhile and then leave and the side balcony is fully covered and is pretty large. I think the cabin space is bigger than 4180 and so is the balcony and your right it is deeper. Hard to go wrong with either cabin the view is amazing. Some people don't like the aft S suites but I wouldn't go on HAL any other way thats just my opinion. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. We were in 5185 (I think that's the number) earlier this month and loved being back there. I just get antsy with looking at the pictures and the people hanging over our head. By the way, is there any cover for shade during the day other than the side?
Thanks again

If the sun is out for the most part you'll have sun on your balcony but it depends on the angle of the sun. There is plenty of room on your side balcony that is usually in the shade but not always depends on where the sun is. 7133 in my opinion is a great cabin only ones better are 5186 and 5187 because they have bigger cabin space.
