HAL Wedding??

My son and future daughter-in-law are considering a cruise ship wedding. I've searched the weddings forum with no up to date results for HAL weddinigs. Does anyone have any personal experience or information about HAL weddings other than what's on the HAL website? Thanks for any help.

Our daughter and son in law were married on the Westerdam in Nov of 05. The specialists that ran the wedding were the best - as was the HAL people. They were married in the Oak Room at 1:00. (The Westerdam has since changed and doesn't have the Oak Room---but the Noordam does. We boarded the ship early - and went to our rooms to change. Wendy had a hair appointment at the salon and the girl did the most beautiful job on her hair. (and puting the vail on). We had nine of us that went on the cruise and one that didn't. The wedding group took care of helping them get the liscense. They had their choice and they went with the JP. The wedding planner went around the ship and got a lot of the big flower arrangments and put them in the room. We went with the l hr cocktail reception with orderves that I pick out. (they were really the greatest -even had the really big shrimp) There were 2 wait staff that were there full time to make sure everthing went OK. The ship made Wendys bouquet and it was all roses. We also had a 1 tear cake that the chefs had made. (very good and look great). We used the ship photographers and bought some of the wedding pictures that were lovely. Since it was Dans first wedding---Wendy wore a wedding gown and vail. Dan - my Hubby and Steve(Wendys son age 13 and best man) The men wore suits and white shirts and matching ties. Wendy and Dan brought a candle to light and also a CD with a song that they danced to. The ship had a CD player. All and all the ship and planners did just the greatest job and I didn't have very much to to at all. Which was fine with me. I hope this helps. If you think of anything else--just let me know. I just looked at the HAL Wedding web site and I think it is the same group that we used. We went with the Smooth Sailing Shipboard Wedding and then added the reception. You can ask about that. Penny
