We are booked on the August 29th sailing on the Westerdam in Northern Europe with our daughter, who will be 11 months old. I was wondering how seating will work. I would hate for them to seat us at a table with couples desiring a nice quiet meal and having to contend with an almost 1 year old. Any suggestions? Will we be assigned to sit with another family?

Table assignments are mostly "luck of the draw". You might check the roll call board to see if there are others you could book a table with, or request a table for "2 plus a half-pint" :)

If you are worried about that, ask your TA to seat you at a table with just you, your husband and your daughter.

You could also request seating with other families. That way your family would have company that would be okay with children!! If you find your daughter has trouble sitting through dinner, HAL serves the same dinner in a more informal atmosphere in the Lido from 6pm to 7:30pm appx. We have eatten upstairs in the Lido for a quicker meal or a more casual one. Have a great time!

ColoradoJen how very thoughtful of you to pose your question now :)
A table for two (early seating I'd guess) might be the answer or specify to your TA that you definitely wish to be with another couple(s) with a young child. HAL stewards are often willing to baby sit (for a fee of course) for a few evenings allowing you and your husband to enjoy a more relaxed meal.
Truly, we have nothing against babies and small children and confess we would not wish to be seated with them at dinner each evening.
Everything will work out I'm sure.
