Hi everyone, well im back from my first ever cruise yesterday from the red sea. Well where do i start, would i do another cruise? You bet I would, i would go tomorrow ! The Celebration was fantastic, there was nothing I could find fault with, the staff were brill, so friendly, special mention to 3 waiter's in the Meridian Brick's, Jay & Raffel's who were great, by about day 3 they knew our names, cabin number ,drinks ! The food was first class, we were going to book mistrals at a extra cost but Meridian was so good we did'nt need to, even had lobster one night, yummy.Went to the captains night on the Sunday, everyone dressed up ,it was great. Very easy to find your way around the ship, very impressed with the cabin, we were in 666 ,twin beds ,plenty of storage space, our cabin steward came in twice a day, always had fresh towels. The trip's we did were Petra, the pyramids with a Nile cruise for lunch, a beach transfer also got a shuttle bus in Aquba and then walked back to the ship, that was interesting. Must mention Cairo, oh my god you have to go just to see it ! what can i say but what a tip ! we saw a dead horse in the canal, rubbish all over, there was a cemetry where 2 million people had made it their home, they had just chucked the bones out the crypts and put roads in, like a proper shanty town,it was unbelievable. Anyone got any question's just ask away

Hi kipper, yes you do get out at the pyramids, I think there were 3 different trips to the pyramids, our's was a trip to a mosque, a lunch on a boat as it sails up the nile, then onto the pyramids and spynx ,the others had museums as well. They were all £88. You can go into the pyramid for a extra £6 each but its very stuffy and if you dont like enclosed spaces DO NOT DO IT. I thought that was a waste of money as it's just a room with a empty tomb, no writing on the wall's or anything. At the pyramids you will get a bit of hassel off the local's trying to get on your photos for money bur we had a armed guard with us who looked after us.

I went on the trip which visited the Cairo museum first and I finally got to see Tutenkhamuns Gold mask. Then on to lunch at the modern Meridien hotel near the pyramids. We then made 3 stops at the pyramids, first at the best distant viewpoint for a photo of a pyramid growing out of your head then the pyramids themselves, finally on to the Sphinx before heading back to the ship.

Hi kipper, yes if you have a late flight on the last day you can walk into Sharm, takes about 15 mins. You can also book a late ceckout cabin for £25, we did this as we were the last to leave at 4 oclock and it gave us somewhere to shower and leave our hand luggage during the day. They do have a few courtesy cabins where you can freshen up but you only get half a hour

Hi fatcat ,yes i did speak to a couple who did the overnight trip to Luxor, they said it was great, the hotel was a 5* and it was less rushed round the valley of the kings, but dont do what they did and leave your passports in the hotel safe ! They only realized when nearly back at the ship but the rep was great, got the passports flown back to sharm ,then sent a taxi to pick them up only charged them about £40. Yes the crew do a show it was tues, i think but it's on late but well worth seeing. Also you should do the captains night on the Sunday, everyone dresses up and you have your photo took with the captain then wine, then a 5 course dinner where we had lobster it was great. We have already booked 2 more holidays this year Turkey & Tenerife, but if we had'nt i would be booking another cruise for sure, it was great

well enjoy your other hols you have booked, just 2 weeks and 3 days now to ours! and we have another cruise booked for oct!

Hi Ian, no problem at all at getting on the trip's. On the Petra trip I would say wear some trainer's or shoe's, lot's of loose stones that you can turn your ankle on but if you take your time you will be fine, it's a good walk and up hill coming back just take a steady plod. You get a guide on the bus ,if i did it again i would walk round on my own as there are plenty of boards to tell you thing's and you get to see more, just make sure you know what time lunch is

Hi

This has probably been answered before, but I keep getting different answers. The |Thomson shop near here doesn't really know!

As I am traveeling by plane to Turkey, so am conscious of case weight, could you tell me if they provided shampoo, shower gel etc. on the Celebration when you were on it.

Thanks

Did this trip 11-18th March. Did the Cairo 'Sound and Light Trip'. This included Boat trip on the Nile (including lunch and floor show). Then on to the Pyramids. Got there around 6.00 (it was still bright) but within 20 minutes it was dark. Show was absolutely fantastic. Really brought the pyramids to life (if you understand). Would definately recommend this show. By the way if you are doing this trip do bring a jacket with you, it gets very very cold in the evening. Enjoy your trip.

Hi Goonersue, in our cabin on deck 3 we had little bottles of shampoo and body wash supplied, plus soap. I was impressed with the amount of storage space in the bathroom, better than many hotels.

That is just what I wanted. I have had so many people tell me different things. We are on Cabin 536, Deck 3/4. :D:D

Although you get toiletries you may want to take some of your favourites, i.e. conditioner, shower gel etc. A good idea is to buy a set of those small empty plastic bottles from Poundworld and fill them up. There's a little pump one that's good for liquid soap or hand cream. They weigh very little when filled.

You don't need to take beach towels so that means more room. I take an assortment of those little samples from the make up counters too

Another option is to buy your toiletries after you have gone through security at the airport. I always do this as you can buy normal size bottles etc and so far have never had my carry-on weighed before boarding. In fact I carried on the plastic bag with the stuff from Boots as well.
